Followed by a quick break, the tour continues to gorgeous Louis Armstrong Park where the guide's expert storytelling explains jazz, Voodoo and Marie Laveau's importance to the city.

Meet your guide in the heart of the French Quarter, and prepare for your illuminating excursion. First, walking down St. Louis Street as the group travels to St. Louis Cemetery #1. Along the way, learn about the blend of Spanish, French, and Creole buildings that have helped to define this neighborhood—some of them dating back to 1790.

Next, arrive at St. Louis Cemetery where you can glimpse breathtaking stone crypts and exquisite mausoleums built above the ground to guard against flooding. Glimpse the tomb of Marie Laveau-a local legend referred to as the “Queen of Voodoo” because of her highly successful and hauntingly influential spiritual practice.

Finally, cap your adventures off with visits to Basin Street Station, Louis Armstrong Park, and Congo Square. At Louis Armstrong Park, see where Voodoo devotees congregated on Sundays. Learn about the important role Voodoo played in establishing a community for members of the African diaspora in 18th- and 19th-century French Louisiana.

This tour was great! Our guide (can't remember his name but his nickname is Ya Ya) made it so much fun! We didn't realize that there was so much history in New Orleans. This tour was an incredible value. Can't wait to come back!

Paul was fabulous. The tour was the best part of the trip and what we will remember forever. He was a wealth of knowledge about the history and nuances of New Orleans. He was the perfect mix of quirky/funny and deeply meaningful. I would recommend this tour with Paul to everyone.
