Description

The valleys of the Chubut River hold some of Patagonia's most unique and charming sights. Set out on a full-day journey to explore the region's intriguing history in Trelew, get to know the Welsh traditions in the village of Gaiman, and admire the fine craftsmanship of the farmhouses in Dolavon.

Set out early in the morning for the city of Trelew, where the Egidio Feruglio Paleontology Museum offers a look at one of Latin America's most important collections depicting the region's paleontology and geological history. With 30 dinosaurs and about 2,000 fossilized pieces on display in the main room alone, the museum takes you back to the earliest days of life on Earth.

The next leg of your journey takes you to Gaiman, a village on the Chubut River's northern bank. Founded by Welsh settlers in 1874, this small town's Old World traditions can still be found at its best. Observe its buildings, still preserved from the early days of settlement, and taste its traditional Welsh tea and cake, all in the beautiful setting of the valley.

From here, the journey leads west to Dolavon, past farmland where you can observe numerous farms devoted to agro-tourism, and appreciate the variety of fine craftsmanship of its people before you return to Puerto Madryn in the evening.
