Description

After a drive to the German border we reach of the Eifel mountain region with its the beautiful landscapeand make a first stop at historic Monschau, the “Pearl of the Eifel”.Largely unchanged for over 300 years, the narrow, cobblestoned streets and traditional half-timbered houses have made this charming place one of the main tourist attractions of the region. Over 300 buildings are listed as monuments. Our guide takes you on a fairly easy walk along the river side from where most of the main sights can be enjoyed, During your free time in the cozy alleys you can taste and buy the local Aachner Printen. You even get the recipe of this sweet for free. We drive to Cologne. Apart from Christmas markets and Carnival, Cologne has so much more to offer. 120 million tourists visit the city every year. After lunch we start our walk at the Neumarkt in the heart of the old city. We only mention the highlights of our guided walk: the cathedral, the City Hall, the Roman walls, the Roman and Germanic museum, the beautiful banks of the Rhine and we discover the mystery of the world famous Eau de cologne 4711 in the Glockengasse. Free time in the shopping streets of the old town. Try the famous 'Kölsch' beer before you leave!

Bruno is the best tour guide by far we have had in our 6 weeks of touring Europe. Very courteous spoke many languages and was in no hurry and we had plenty of time to take photos and he would explain the tour as we walked around. 10 out of 10 Bruno. And the bus driver joele was brilliant always waited was in no hurry and his driving was excellent. ******Thoroughly enjoyed the day*****. But went the next day on another trip with a different lady and it was disastrous( we will leave it at that) so it really comes down to who is your tour guide. Thanks Bluey Beeman from Australia...

Our guide Bruno was very knowledgable and engaging. Cologne had nice restaurants and places to shop. The Catherdral is breathtaking although I did not have the opportunity to go inside it. It rained a lot by the time we got to Monschau but it did not dampen the experience! You will get a lot of beautiful pictures in this town. I highly recommend this day trip.
