Pay a visit to the boundary that divides North and South Korea on this half-day tour to the Demilitarized Zone. Step into one of the North Korean infiltration tunnels, look out across the country from the Dora observatory, and get a look at the unresolved history of the Korean War.

After meeting your guide and setting out from Seoul, visit the city of Paju for a look at the monuments of Imjingak Park. See the Bridge of Freedom, used by prisoners of war who were repatriated from the North, and the community of Unification Village in between South and North Korea.

Next, head to the Third Infiltration Tunnel, an incomplete passage built by North Korea that runs under the Demilitarized Zone. Discovered in 1978, the tunnel passes through bedrock 240 feet (73 m) below ground. Within, tourists can walk up to the concrete barricades that block off the Military Demarcation Line between North and South.

Once you're back on the surface, the tour takes you up the slopes of Mount Dora for a look across the country from the Dora Observatory. In good weather, you can see all the way to North Korea without using the observatory's telescope. Look out at the 2.4-mile (4-km) stretch of the DMZ that has divided Korea since 1953 before you return to City Hall or Myeongdong.

4.6 out of 5

They were on time and our host Yura was on top of the scheduling, instructing and organizing. She is very knowledgeable and helpful. I gave low rating because the actual DMZ ground zero or Joint Security Area is NOT part of the tour. I did not know it is a separate tour or called JSA tour until well into this tour. Somehow I feel misled. This tour included visits to: Ingingak, Dorasan station, Dora observatory, and the Third tunnel/museum. Unless aomeone is super interested in Korean War history, I'd not recommend this tour. The bus, while running well, is not exactly clean or luxurious. Overall, liked the host, and driver but would easily skip this tour and instead go to JSA + Dora observatory.

Yura was a delight! She made this experience go so smoothly and was wonderfully informative. It's a really interesting tour -- definitely emotional and powerful.

Our tour guide Julie was patient and knowledgeable. Was even helpful when asked for places to visit around Seoul after the tour. Thank you.
