What you can expect
Enjoy time to wander through the only tropical zoo in the continental United States, Zoo Miami, which houses more than 3,000 animals on nearly 350 acres (142 ha). Take in the sights and sounds of mammals, amphibians, reptiles, and birds as you learn about the animals and their habitat.
Start out in the recently added Florida: Mission Everglades, an exhibit featuring state-of-the-art interactive displays about the species found in the region. Come face-to-face with a ferocious bear, slide through the water where river otters play, and get close to alligators as you walk carefully over a rickety bridge.
Next, head to east to Asia, where you scope out fascinating animals including elephants, rhinos, tigers, and countless colorful birds. In the Asian Riverlife Experience, feel as if you've traveled across the globe as you wind your way through clouded leopards and Komodo dragons.
Continue on into Africa to make friends with giraffes, zebras, and gazelles, and then into the Amazon to see Central and South American animals such as spider monkeys, jaguars, and anacondas. End your exploration back toward the front of the zoo in the Australia exhibit, which showcases furry and feathered creatures like kangaroos, emus, and koalas.
If you want to take your experience to the next level, there are plenty of extra activities and attractions as well. Loop through the premises on the monorail, feed camels and giraffes, or enjoy a relaxing pedal boat ride on the Amazon Lake.
