Description

Explore the frozen expanses of the Columbia Icefield, snap photos of the snow-covered peaks of the Rocky Mountains, and learn about the erosive legacy of the Crowfoot Glacier on this day trip around Banff and Jasper's national parks. Along the way, check out the sparkling waters of Bow and Peyto Lake.

Leave from downtown Calgary with your guide, settling into a window seat to watch the forested landscapes outside of Alberta's capital give way to mountain peaks and river valleys. At the edge of the Columbia Icefield, hop out to explore a small corner of the largest icefield in North America and consider an optional ride in a knobby-tired snocoach for closer views of this stark, snow-covered terrain.

Continue on to the shores of Bow Lake, where you can snap photos of the Waputik Range's jagged peaks, and check out the icy foot of the Crowfoot Glacier. Learn how this massive sheet of ice carved out the area's mountain-studded skyline, and then swing by Peyto Lake, whose blue-green waters seem to glow due to their high mineral content.

This is not an ice field tour, it is a bus ride to and from the ice field that costs $400.00. We were shuttled to the site from Calgary, a 4 hour ride, dropped off at the site and left on our own. We thought it was a guided tour of the ice field, but that is not included, and by the time we got there it was too late to buy one. This is a rip off, don't buy it!!!!
