Description

With its lush rainforests, dramatic coastlines, and unmatched tropical scenery, it's no wonder that Kauai's island landscapes have been the backdrop for feature films. Visit locations from Uncommon Valor and Raiders of the Lost Ark on this fascinating look at Kauai's brushes with Hollywood fame.

After being picked up from your hotel, make your way out to various film sets and locales that have graced the big screen, watching video clips from blockbusters you know and love as you walk in the footsteps of the stars and see exactly where each scene was shot.

Check out the tumbling cascade at Opaeka'a Falls, which had a cameo in Elvis Presley's Blue Hawaii, and picture Lilo & Stitch running through the waves at Anini Beach Park. Hanalei Bay, a shimmering curve of white sand with an iconic pier, was where Rodgers and Hammerstein's musical South Pacific was filmed in 1958. Harrison Ford's Six Days and Seven Nights was shot at the beachfront Aliomanu Estates, and John Wayne walked the sandy shore of Kealia Beach in Donovan's Reef. It's not just famous humans who have roamed this scenic isle, however—dinosaurs tramped through Kapaa Town in Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park.

In between stops, tuck into lunch at the Tahiti Nui Restaurant and Cocktail Lounge—George Clooney was filmed here in 2011's The Descendants. Enjoy a cheeseburger, teriyaki chicken sandwich, or kalua pork sandwich with fries, soda, and a garden salad.
