Description

Venture to the lush valley of Manoa for a quintessential Hawaiian hike, complete with a cascading 100-foot (30-m) waterfall. Guided by knowledgeable locals, spend time walking the verdant terrain that was once the backdrop to the Jurassic Park films and the hit television show Lost.

This short 2-mile (3.2-km) hike begins at the top of Manoa Road in the foothills of the Ko'olau Range. Once at the base of the trailhead, take a moment to admire the lush bamboo forest, prehistoric-looking plants, and vocal exotic birds. Your guide provides you with a backpack and a walking stick for the often-muddy rainforest hike.

Along the way, hear native Hawaiian legends and history, as well as local nature and wildlife trivia. Learn about conservation efforts that are being made for Hawaii's native vegetation and wildlife, and explore what you can do to help.

The trail winds through twisted canopies of tree roots and along tropical plant formations, allowing for striking pictures. Arrive at the tallest accessible waterfall on Oahu and enjoy up-close views of the hidden falls. Climb to a higher elevated ridge on the Aihualama Trail for a breathtaking bird's-eye view of the lavish Windward Coast, picturesque Kaneohe Bay, and deep-blue Pacific Ocean.

Our guide Sage was very knowledgeable. She made it a fun experience. The hike itself was very beautiful but Sage herself made the entire experience well worth it. She was helpful in areas that didn't involve the hike but just from her experiences and what she knows from living here. Definitely would go on more tours if she was our guide for everything.
