Description

Get up close and personal with the Mendenhall Glacier. Be one of the few to canoe across a glacier-fed lake in the middle of the Tongass National Forest, the largest National Forest in the United States. Your professional guide will navigate you across the lake, along the steep cliffs to the face of the Mendenhall Glacier, see the beautiful blue ice and feel the katabatic winds rolling directly off the glacier.

Your adventure into the Alaskan wilderness begins right at the cruise ship docks. Your professional guide will sweep you away from the crowds and bring you deep into the Tongass National Forest; the largest National Forest in the United States. This is where the Mendenhall Glacier awaits you. A half-mile wide glacier with ice up to 1,800 feet deep, it's no surprise that Mendenhall is the most visited in glacier in Alaska.

You will get geared up in top quality gear and with instruction from our guide, we will launch the canoe to start our voyage across the serene Mendenhall Lake to the glacier. Steep cliffs carved by the glacier will surround you as we paddled towards the front row views of the Mendenhall Glacier. With time to soak it all in and explore, make sure to keep your eyes open for wildlife, Arctic terns, and the giant thundering waterfall. Our guide will provide you with knowledge to really understand wilderness of America’s Last Frontier.

Upon returning from your adventure on the lake, you will be welcomed by a hot beverage as you de-gear from your equipment. After a short drive back to the cruise ship docks, your adventure with us with end, but hopefully with memories that will last a lifetime.
