Journey to Charlottesville, Virginia to explore Monticello, an estate designed by Thomas Jefferson using European neoclassical principles. As you explore the visitor center, uncover the life of the third U.S. President, and then visit the historic Michie Tavern.

Tour the first floor of the house to see the furnishings, art, books, gadgets, and other objects that reveal Jefferson's unique mind. Then you can wander the halls of the Thomas Jefferson Visitor Center, which provides a detailed look at his careers as a politician, inventor, surveyor, and musician. Four innovative exhibitions and a hands-on discovery room, including a reproduction of Jefferson's alcove bed, reveal details about Jefferson's life and lasting legacies.

End your excursion with a tour of the Michie Tavern, with the option to purchase lunch before you return to Washington. Michie Tavern offers a menu of 18th-century colonial fare, and the servers are dressed in period attire. Stop by the oldest section of Michie Tavern to see how people back then traveled, dined, and spent the night.

Why visit the tavern that limits your food choice

when you can spend an extra hour + at Monticello! The tour itself sucks

Why would a tour to Monticello stop at a tavern

for lunch and waste 1 1/2 when Monticello is less than 5 miles away? This is time wasted. I paid to see Monticello not a tavern, square dance and eat fried chicken. This tour does not cater to people with food restrictions. Don't waste your money on this tour. Monticello is awesome but this grayline tour is not worth it
