Description

Spend a day soaking in the end-of-the-world scenery as you explore Tasmania's must-see sights with an expert guide. Look over Hobart and Bruny Island from the summit of Mount Wellington, Learn about the island's past in historic Richmond, and encounter native wildlife at a wildlife sanctuary.

Cruise Ship passengers meet at the wharf at 9:45 am and head towards Salamanca Place, a street lined with historic sandstone buildings and former warehouses. Check out the 19th-century cottages in the old maritime village of Battery Point, before heading off in the direction of Mount Wellington, which dominates Hobart's skyline. Drive up to the summit and take in the view over Hobart and the coast, looking across the D'Entrecasteaux Channel to see Bruny Island in the distance.

From there, head out of town through the Coal River Valley to Richmond, an early colonial settlement in the heart of Tasmania's farming and wine country. If you'd like, time permitting, you can choose to stop at a winery to sample the cool-climate varietals bottled here.

After a light lunch at a bakery or a sit-down meal at the cafe (at your own expense), make your way to the Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary. This conservatively-minded sanctuary is the perfect place to discover Tasmania's fascinating native creatures, from endangered species like the Tasmanian Devil, to animals that went extinct elsewhere in Australia a long time ago.

The driver/guide didn't talk very much, and gave little information. The trip took too long, we arrived almost an hour later than expected. Unclear communication regarding where to meet and when during stops at the trip. At one point, the whole group was waiting inside the zoo at the appointed time while the driver/guide sat in the car outside. He made no attempt to find us. After a while WE found HIM, but that should not have been necessary. I would not reccomend this trip.
