Description

Overview:

A full-day tour that takes you on a journey of discovery through the Southern end of Phu Quoc Island. Includes visiting a Pearl Farm, the infamous Coconut Prison,a Fish Sauce Factory, the most beautiful beach on the island (Bai Sao beach)and the biggest Buddhist temple on Phu Quoc, Ho Quoc Pagoda.

Itinerary:

The tour will begin with a visit to a Pearl Farm. Pearls are one of Phu Quoc’s most famous exports since the sea surrounding the island is the perfect breeding ground for these precious gems. During your visit you’ll gain fascinating insight into the process of oyster cultivation which turns it from simple oyster to beautiful jewelry. Next, we’ll delve into the island’s darker history, by visiting Coconut Prison, also known as Phu Quoc Prison. This terrible place was established during French colonisation of Vietnam in the 1940’s and expanded in the 1960’s by U.S-backed Southern Vietnamese troops it in order to imprison Vietnamese soldiers. There are plenty of exhibits presented in the prison for visitors to learn more about the prison, many of which depict the brutal conditions and torture that were commonplace. Afterwards enjoy the lunch at a local restaurant before paying a visit to the Fish Sauce Factory. Phu Quoc nuoc mam (fish sauce) is very famous in Vietnam and people here still make it the traditional way in what resembles a brewery. Next up is time to enjoy the white sand and turquoise water of the most beautiful beach on the island, Bai Sao beach. For the penultimate part of the tour we’ll take you to the biggest Buddhist temple on Phu Quoc, Ho Quoc Pagoda, beautifully located by mountain and sea before dropping you back to your hotel.
