Description

This private tour introduces you to an authentic side of Yogyakarta with a visit to Pakualaman and a traditional meal. Learn about the herbal medicines of Indonesia with a personal guide, ride on a becak rickshaw, and dig into delicious nasi gudeg during your half-day adventure.

Start your journey by venturing from your hotel to the village of Pakualaman, known for its herbal medicines. Your knowledgeable and local guide introduces you to a popular medicine maker, where you can learn about and taste different types of jamu, or traditional Indonesian medicine. Lauded for its many healing properties, jamu is typically made from natural materials like fresh herbs and anti-inflammatory ingredients.

After watching how the medicine is made without the use of synthetic chemicals, move to a nearby food stall and sample delicious fruit sorbets. Next, board a becak, a 3-wheeled cycle-rickshaw used as a traditional form of transportation. Enjoy a leisurely and intimate ride through the streets on your way to a restaurant. Feast on a lunch of nasi gudeg, a dish of young jackfruit boiled in palm sugar and coconut milk and seasoned with a mouthwatering combination of spices like coriander, garlic, and bay leaves. Following your delicious and authentic meal, head back to your hotel.
