Curonian Spit is an almost 100 km long narrow peninsula, which separates the mainland and the Curonian Lagoon from the Baltic sea. Since the year 2000, Curonian Spit is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. While mostly known for its drifting sand dunes, pine forests, elks and fine beaches, Curonian Spit also offers rich cultural heritage of the traditional fishermen’s way of life, the ethnic Curonians (Kursiai) group, and east Prussian history.

You will walk on some of Europe’s largest sand dunes, hear Lithuanian sagas and fairytales on the mysterious Hill of Witches and experience a haunting atmosphere in the cormorants colony. You can also explore the cultural centre of the Curonian Spit in Nida village, located next to the border with Russia, and learn more about the amber in the Amber gallery.
