Small-Group Eat, Eat, Repeat Walking Tour

by Urban Adventures Duration 3h Free cancellation available No booking or credit card fees
per adult Price is $55

Take a bite out of Colombo's tasty street food scene on this walking tour. Pass by landmarks like the Red Mosque on your way to Galle Face Green, filling up along the way on delicious bites like falooda, hoppers, kottu, and prawn wade.

Meet your guide at the historic Fort Railway Station and duck down a street packed with little shops peddling everything from saris to leather bags, and make your first food stop at a popular local eatery. Chow down on traditional bites like hoppers, crepe-like bowls filled with eggs and other savory toppings.

Walk off your first course and work up an appetite as you pass by the strikingly colored architecture of the Red Mosque on your way to the Bombay Sweet House. Sip on chilled, rose-scented falooda and fruity, syrupy saruwath, nibble on Sri Lankan sweets.

Bite into crunchy murukku (fried chickpeas), and admire the Khan Clock Tower, the harbor, and colonial buildings on your way to the Old Colombo Dutch Hospital. Head into this renovated structure to check out the restaurants and bars that fill the space, stopping for a beer or glass of wine if you'd like. Continue in the direction of the Galle Face Green, a waterfront park, stopping along the way for snacks like prawn and crab wade, a type of savory donut.

Finally, arrive at Nana's. Tuck into dinner of kottu, a Sri Lankan roti or vegetables or meat and spices, and enjoy the cool breeze off the sea .

Excellent and fun tour with Sujith around the markets and historical sights of Colombo. Really well paced, interspersed with street food, some history and a stroll along the water front ending with dinner of devilled chicken and ginger beer. Even our jet lagged teenagers loved it. If you only have a short time in Colombo, please do this tour. Sujith is an amazing artist, ask to see his work!!!

Do this on your first day/night in Colombo and you get to see almost all of Colombo in 3-4 hrs. Our guide Sujith was very knowledgeable and friendly. He was very patient and even check on us once a while to make sure we are OK. What I would suggest, maybe include ponco for rainy season and mask for those visitor(s) prone to asthma attack. My husband was breathless due to too dusty roads and hence we were walking way behind. but Sujith was patient enough to wait for us.
