What you can expect
Get to know the grand sights and bright lights of Japan's second city with an evening tour through the vibrant streets of Osaka. An expert guide gives you a sense for the heart of the Kansai region with a look at great food, backstreet markets, and the metropolis' favorite attractions.
Your group gathers outside Nipponbashi Station for a visit to the nearby Kuromon Ichiba Market, where lively market stalls offer some of Osaka's freshest fish, meats, and vegetables. Move on to Doguyasuji to see the array of cooking utensils and the uniquely Japanese selection of “fake food.”
Next, hop on the subway to Dobutsuenmae Station for a visit to Shinsekai, a brilliant neighborhood modeled on New York City at the heart of Osaka's downtown. Get a chance to visit a traditional sento bathhouse and a newer, larger super sento, and try out the local favorite kushikatsu skewers of deep-fried meat and vegetables.
Past a row of traditional Japanese-style izakaya pubs, you head to the glittering waterfront shops of Dotonbori. Check out the neon signs and street vendors along the canal and the famous image of the running man, and try a bite of Osaka's famous takoyaki before you part ways with your guide.
