Start your day with royalty, visiting the impressive Escorial—the historical residence of the King of Spain and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Wander around the monastery, the royal palace, the pantheon of kings, and the museum. Admire the famous artwork throughout the monastery.

Your next stop is the Valley of the Fallen—a monument built as a memorial to those who died during the Spanish Civil War. Listen to your guide’s informative commentary about this monument as you drive through the picturesque countryside toward the museum-like city of Toledo.

One of the oldest cities of Europe and at one time the capital of Spain, Toledo boasts magnificent examples of architecture from several historical periods—making it one of the leading artistic cities of Spain. First of all, they don't tell you that some people on this trip are not going to Toledo. So we all go to Escorial and then to the valley of the fallen. Then you get on the bus for the 1hr drive to Madrid where you have to wait more than an hour for another bus to go to Toledo. We spent 1.5hrs In Escorial and less than 45 minutes in the valley of the fallen. The tour guide in the morning was Carmen and she was not a very nice person. She was extremely rude, not only to us but to the bus driver and people inside of Escorial. It was a really hot day over 100 degrees and the AC in the back of the bus was blowing hot air. The last thing you want to do after climbing to the top of Toledo on a hot day is to get on a really hot bus.
