Saco do Mamanguá, in the Joatinga Reserve, is one of the most beautiful places in the state of Rio de Janeiro. Between fishing villages and unspoilt beaches, there are some hiking options. The most beautiful of them is certainly the Sugar Loaf Mountain in Mamanguá. The script starts at the Paraty pier. Board the shared speedboat bound for Praia do Cruzeiro, at Saco do Mamanguá (40 min). To get to the top of the rock it is necessary to follow the trail to the Sugar Loaf Mountain. From the base, at Praia do Cruzeiro, to the peak of the rock, there are 466 meters of ascent. We start the trail through the Atlantic Forest to Pico Pão de Açúcar (1:15 am – difficult level trail with steep stretches). Arriving at Pico, time to rest and contemplate the landscape (40 min). The way back is a descent (40 min) to Praia do Cruzeiro, where we can enjoy a nice swim in the sea and lunch at an optional caiçara restaurant – (cash only accepted). After the stop, return by shared speedboat to the Paraty pier.
