Description

Embark on a journey through the spiritual environment of the Waipoua Forest, a natural stage with some of the largest remaining kauri trees in the world. Local guides take you on a memorable journey that offers a mythological and interactive interpretation of life in the forest.

As you set out from Hokianga, your guide briefs you on the protocols for your visit to the mighty forest, along with the history and myth that surrounds it. Step into a special world for a walk under the stars that guided the legendary Kupe to New Zealand from the ancestral Maori homeland of Hawaiiki.

On the paths of the forest, you can see immense trees that were standing before the birth of Christ. See the mighty Te Matua Ngahere, estimated to be between 2,500 and 3,000 years old and whose trunk is over 15 feet (5 m) in diameter, and the Grand Finale - Tane Mahuta, which stands an impressive 150 feet (51 m) tall, before your walking tour comes to an end.
