Description

Discover 2 of Chile's most famous sites in a single day. Journey into the agricultural central valley to the Emiliana vineyard, and get a rich education on Chilean winemaking. Afterward, make a visit to Valparaiso, the UNESCO-listed port town that has long served as center of the country's trade.

Get picked up Parque Arauco and drive into the central valley, where a bounty of agriculture—most notably cheese and fruit—is produced by local farmers. Arrive at the vineyard and delve into the fascinating history of Chilean winemaking at a comprehensive museum. Learn about distinct varietals and enjoy the vineyard's natural environment.

Afterward, travel to Valparaiso, the 2nd-largest metropolitan area in Chile and a historic port city that has been recognized by UNESCO for its valuable fusion of cultures and architectural styles. Pay a visit to La Sebastiana, an iconic museum known as the home of world-famous, Nobel Prize winning writer Pablo Neruda, before returning to Santiago.

This is a long trip and quite tiring. With the wine tour and tasting in the morning it meant being a bit tired for exploring Valparaiso. Neruda’s house was interesting but the top floor was closed for some reason. A little time looking in shops would have been good.

Natascia was great, she showed lots of knowledge of both the country as well as the attractions. The tour on the winery was quite interesting although a bit short, we did not get to see the barrels or anything, just a walk through the vineyards, the animals and the farm and then onto the tasting part. Lunch was great and the price was decent, I had read several reviews saying that tours took you to expensive restaurants but Oda Paraíso was fain in terms of quality, portions and price, plus taste was REALLY good. La Sebastiana (Neruda's house) was really interesting and insightful. The highpoint of the tour was walking through Valparaíso's hills looking at all the graffiti art and the bay. Thousands of amazing pictures, super colorful scenes, almost towards the end, we had the chance to meet one of the graffiti artists. Alejandro, our driver was great also. The drive to and back was great too.

A very professional company with excellent tour guides. Everything ran like clockwork. Be prepared, however, for a big day as the complete tour takes about 12 hours from time of picking up to return to accommodation. Likewise, the Andes Tour we did the day before which was quoted as being 5 hours but actually took 10.
