Amazing! 4.4/5 Expedia Guest Rating

Discover majestic whales and other marine wildlife such as porpoises, sea lions, seals, and bald eagles aboard a custom Zodiac boat. While in their natural habitat, you observe their travel patterns and hear them as they communicate beneath the waves.

Board a 47-passenger Zodiac boat with an open seating area in the front and a semi-covered seating area in the rear. Custom designed for marine mammal viewing, its design limits intrusion into the undersea ecosystem and reduces the chances of passenger seasickness.

Once out on the water, you move to the observation deck for expansive views of the Gulf and San Juan islands. Watch for seals and porpoises bobbing near the shore, and soon you might even see your first whale. The boats maintain a respectful distance, but these beautiful and majestic creatures occasionally like to swim right next to the vessel.

An onboard biologist tells you about the whales who visit this region between May and October to feed on the salmon as they return to the Fraser River. There are three stunning whale pods—or families—that return to this area every year, each consisting of approximately 80 whales.

Throughout the trip, the biologist walks around the boat to answer any questions you may have. Hydrophones—devices that allow you to listen to the underwater vocalizations of the whales—are available to allow you to hear their calls firsthand. Keep your camera at the ready to capture wondrous oceanic moments not to be forgotten.
