Description

Discover Australia's most notable wildlife species with a trip to the Southern Highlands. This flexible tour is your chance to see koalas, kangaroos, platypus, emus, and wombats in their natural surroundings with an experienced guide to tell you interesting tidbits about each animal.

Leaving the city behind, relax on the drive down to the Australian bush as your private guide provides a fascinating overview on native wildlife, the area's history, and the day-to-day lives of the local population. Explore the native bush forests of the rural community of Canyonleigh, keeping an eye out for the well-hidden koalas. Enjoy the serenity in acres of farmland, isolated valleys, and real Australian native bushland of this still undeveloped area.

On the scenic wildlife drive that follows, you have the opportunity to see a variety of iconic animals in the paddocks and lightly wooded clearings. Kangaroos, wallabies, and emus may be feeding, caring for their young, or just traipsing through the bush. At dusk you have the perfect opportunity to catch a peek of the strange and shy platypus in the river.

After a hearty and delicious dinner at an Australian inn, you head back out for spot-lighting to explore the array of nocturnal life out in the wild.

Our guide, Zoe, was extremely knowledgeable and we were able to see a koala, lots of kangaroos, wallabies, a wombat, birds, 2 different types of opossums. The tour group was small, and we had wonderful food and conversation. I highly recommend this tour.

we only saw wombats and opossum at night, which it was a great experience This tour should be resumed to night wilderness only. We were killing time and running around trying to find koalas, kangurus, or any animal but there was nothing to see during the day.
