World War I Knights of The Sky Exhibition

by Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre Duration 8h Free cancellation available No booking or credit card fees
per adult Price is $17

Explore the early days of air combat with a look at the imagery, the aircraft, and the people who vied for the skies of Europe a century ago. Drawing from the personal collection of director Peter Jackson, Knights of the Sky offers a spectacular look back at aviation during the Great War.

Surrounded by the fields of the South Island, the Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre hosts this collection of rare memorabilia that brings the skies of the Western Front to life. The displays combine finely crafted trench art and personal items that belonged to flying aces from Eddie Rickenbacker and René Fonck to the famed Red Baron and the infamous Hermann Goering.

Made with the blockbuster-quality expertise of Wingnut Films and the Weta Workshop, the exhibition uses vivid dioramas and lifelike mannequins to recreate scenes from the war. Don't miss the collection of aircraft from the era, including static replicas and flyable warplanes, and get an up-close look at icons like the Curtiss Model F or the colorful Fokker triplanes as you revisit the age of chivalry and bravado in the sky.
