Description

Explore the many wineries of the Yakima Valley in Central Washington for a day full of delightful winetastings. Learn about the winemaking process as you make your way through the gently rolling terrain of the valley, stopping at many spots in the fruitful Rattlesnake Hills area.

Depart from Seattle aboard comfortable provided transportation and head to the Yakima Valley, touring establishments in Yakima, Wapato, Buena, and Zillah. Visit a tasting room in the Yakima city area, and then move southwest of the city, where the Yakima River cuts through the ridge at Union Gap and out into the broad, rolling terrain of the Yakima Valley. Listen as your guide explains that most of the wineries here are located in or next to the vineyards that supply their grapes, creating a simple and fresh supply chain that results in delicious local wines.

On nice days, visit a local Yakima area delicatessen or other take-out food provider, to purchase food for a picnic. On days when the weather is less agreeable, stop at an attractive restaurant and wine bar to have lunch. Afterwards, leave the vineyards behind to head back to Seattle.
