In order to be eligible for One Key (currently only available in the US) you must log in or create an account on the US-version of the Expedia, Hotels.com or Vrbo site or app. For eligibility requirements to transition tier status and rewards from Expedia Rewards and Hotels.com Rewards, see below.

Please note, if you were an existing member of Expedia, Hotels.com or an account holder with Vrbo: In most instances, your account will be migrated to One Key automatically. Vrbo travelers will need to accept T&Cs. In order to be eligible for the migration to One Key (currently only available in the US) you must have created an Expedia, Hotels.com or Vrbo account on the US-version of the site or app (for app, the region in phone settings must be set to US when the account was created or when the app was downloaded).

One Key is our new travel rewards program where members can enjoy Member Prices and earn OneKeyCash for eligible bookings. Here’s what to know about earning OneKeyCash, our rewards currency that can be used on Expedia, Hotels.com, and Vrbo:

• As long as you’re a member, and sign in before you make any bookings, you’ll earn rewards across all eligible, global travel bookings made on the US points of sale on Expedia, Hotels.com, and Vrbo.

• Members will receive 2% in OneKeyCash for every dollar spent* on eligible hotels, vacation rentals, activities, packages, car rentals, and cruises and 0.2% in OneKeyCash for every dollar spent on eligible flights. And don’t forget, you earn OneKeyCash on top of any airline loyalty program earnings and credit card rewards.

• The account holder who makes the booking earns the OneKeyCash, no matter which travelers are named in the booking. Planning a family trip? All OneKeyCash, including those from roundtrip flights for all family members, will be deposited in your One Key account. No need to set up accounts for your family members or children to collect rewards.

• Your rewards get bigger when you book stays at VIP Access properties. In One Key’s Silver tier, your OneKeyCash earnings go up by 50%. It’s 2x more when you reach the Gold tier and 3x more when you reach the Platinum tier.**

• When you make most ‘Pay Now’ bookings, your OneKeyCash will arrive in your account just three days after you complete your trip. For ‘Pay Later’ and all Vrbo bookings, your OneKeyCash will generally be confirmed 45 days after you complete your trip, but in certain instances it may take up to 90 days.

• * USD only. Excludes taxes and fees.

• ** Bonus OneKeyCash is applied on the base OneKeyCash earned and not in conjunction with other applicable bonus OneKeyCash offers.

Your rewards are easy to track – Just head to your rewards activity page to see what you have earned and your progress toward your tier status.

When you’re ready to redeem OneKeyCash, once confirmed, it’s yours to use at any time. Here are a few details to keep in mind: 

• OneKeyCash can be used on US dollar ‘Pay Now’ bookings only and participating vacation rentals.  

• To use OneKeyCash on a flight, you will need enough OneKeyCash to cover the entire cost of your eligible flight, including taxes and fees, and may not add any optional extras like checked bags or seat assignments. You can purchase those extras after booking your ticket. OneKeyCash may only be used on selected flights. 

• OneKeyCash cannot be redeemed for cash and is not transferable to other members, but you can redeem OneKeyCash on eligible bookings in someone else's name.  

The more trip elements you book across Expedia, Hotels.com and Vrbo, the higher status you earn with One Key.

What’s a trip element? They’re the different parts of a trip—One Key takes every trip element into account and rewards you for it.  

• Trip elements include:

  • 1 air ticket (one way or roundtrip) 

  • 1 hotel room night (each night counts as an element)

  • 1 night in a vacation rental 

  • 1 night on a cruise 

  • 1-day car rental 

  • 1 roundtrip ground transportation ticket (airport shuttles, transfers, etc.)

  • 1 activity ticket (a private tour, a theme park ticket, etc.) 

• *Trip elements must be worth $25 or more in USD excluding taxes and fees to qualify.

Your tier status: It’s fast and easy to move up One Key tiers. Here’s what you need to book to qualify for each tier:

• Blue - Just sign up, it’s free!

• Silver - 5 trip elements within a year

• Gold - 15 trip elements within a year

• Platinum - 30 trip elements within a year

• So, for example, if you booked 2 nights in a hotel and a 3-day car rental, you’d earn 5 trip elements, enough to reach Silver tier status in one trip.

Tier status will be earned on a calendar year basis, from Jan 1 to Dec 31. Your status for the upcoming year will be determined according to the number of trip elements you have collected by Dec 31 and your progress will reset as of Jan 1.

Transition of existing rewards:

• For Hotels.com Rewards accounts created on the US Hotels.com site, confirmed Hotels.com Rewards stamps or reward nights for bookings made on US and non-US sites will be automatically converted to OneKeyCash when One Key launches. Pending Hotels.com Rewards stamps for bookings made on non-US sites before One Key launches will not be converted into OneKeyCash and will remain in your Hotels.com Rewards account.

• For Hotels.com Rewards accounts created on non-US Hotels.com sites with confirmed Hotels.com Rewards stamps and/or reward nights from bookings made only on the US site, your Hotels.com stamps and reward nights will be converted to OneKeyCash at their current value on the US site of Hotels.com when you become a One Key member. Pending Hotels.com Rewards stamps for bookings made on non-US sites before One Key launches will not be converted into OneKeyCash and will remain in your Hotels.com Rewards account.

• Accounts not moving to One Key

• For Hotels.com Rewards accounts created on the US Hotels.com site with confirmed Hotels.com Rewards stamps or reward nights from non-US sites only, these will be updated to the site (e.g. uk.hotels.com) where you made your last booking. Your Hotels.com rewards will not be converted to OneKeyCash and will remain in your Hotels.com Rewards account. To use your Hotels.com Rewards, you’ll need to log into the Hotels.com Rewards account on any non-US site.

• For Hotels.com Rewards accounts that were created on sites outside the US and have confirmed Hotels.com stamps and/or reward nights from bookings made on non-US sites you will not transition to One Key. Your Hotels.com Rewards nights and stamps will remain in your non-US Hotels.com Rewards account. If you do log in or book on the US site in the future you will be creating a new One Key rewards account.

How will my existing Expedia Rewards points transition over to One Key? For Expedia Rewards points earned on the US Expedia.com site, your points will automatically be converted to One Key. Any Expedia Rewards points earned on Expedia sites outside of the US will remain in your non-US Expedia Rewards account.

Will my Expedia Rewards tier change if I now have a One Key account in the US and an Expedia Rewards account in another region? Your Expedia Rewards tier status outside of the US will not change and it will be maintained for the rest of your membership year. You can view your Expedia Rewards tier status by logging into your Expedia Rewards account on that non-US site and clicking on your profile icon

Will my Hotels.com Rewards tier change if I now have a One Key account in the US and a Hotels.com Rewards account in another region? Your Hotels.com tier status outside of the US will not change and it will be maintained for the rest of your membership year. You can view your Hotels.com Rewards tier status by logging into your Hotels.com Rewards account on that non-US site, selecting your name in the navigation bar, and selecting 'View your Rewards activity’

The latest expiration date between your Expedia Rewards and Hotels.com Rewards will be retained as they are converted to OneKeyCash. 

You will still be able to access booking information, make changes, or a cancellation through the same apps and websites using the same account you used to make your booking. 

Hotels.com Credit Card Holders: You can continue to use your Hotels.com Credit Card to earn rewards. Click here to learn more. 

Transition of existing tier status:

• Your Expedia Rewards and Hotels.com Rewards tier status will not only be protected, but we will make sure any eligible activity in 2022 and 2023 (up to the date you become a One Key Member) across your Expedia and Hotels.com accounts counts toward your tier status.

  • Note: The email address across your accounts must match for your activity to count.

  • “Eligible activity” means a US dollar booking made from an Expedia Rewards, and Hotels.com Rewards (while signed in) account: 1) For Expedia Rewards, an activity that would have qualified for a trip element in accordance with the Expedia Rewards terms in place before the date you become a One Key member, and 2) For Hotels.com Rewards an eligible completed stay at a property of more than $25 (excluding taxes and fees and any discounts or reward nights applied) per night stayed. Bookings that were not eligible for rewards under the Hotels.com Rewards program are excluded. Your new One Key status will be active for 2023 and will not carry over to 2024.

• For 2024, any trip elements collected in 2023 will count toward your 2024 status. This includes any trip elements collected in 2023 before the date you become a One Key member from eligible activity on Expedia and Hotels.com.

• Going forward, tier status will be earned on a calendar year basis, from Jan 1 to Dec 31. Your status for the upcoming year will be determined according to the number of trip elements you have collected by Dec 31 and your progress will reset as of Jan 1.

I joined One Key and I think some of my Expedia rewards are missing: One Key is currently only available in the US. If you have a non-US Expedia Rewards account your rewards will remain on that non-US Expedia Rewards account on the non-US site. In order to use these Expedia rewards, you’ll need to log into the Expedia Rewards account on the non-US site . You can simply log in and navigate to the other site by selecting the region at the top of the page.

I think some of my Hotels.com rewards are missing: One Key is currently only available in the US.

• If you have created your account on the US site and have current rewards earned on Hotels.com outside of the US, your confirmed Hotels.com Rewards stamps and reward nights will be converted to OneKeyCash at their current value. We will award 10% of the value of each Hotels.com Rewards stamp collected in OneKeyCash. Your pending Hotels.com Rewards stamps will remain on your Hotels.com Rewards account and can be viewed on non-US Hotels.com sites.

• If you have created your Hotels.com Rewards account outside of the US and your current rewards were earned outside the US or on multiple sites including the US, we have not moved your Hotels.com rewards to One Key. Travelers who visit the US site and log in will be enrolled into One Key. You’ll have a One Key rewards account on the US site, but your Hotels.com Rewards reward nights and stamps will remain on the non-US site where you created your Hotels.com Rewards account. To use these Hotels.com rewards, you’ll need to log into your non-US Hotels.com Rewards account. One Key will be coming to additional markets starting in 2024.

• If you created your Hotels.com Rewards account outside the US but your rewards balance is from bookings made only in the US, then your account and rewards have been migrated to your US One Key account at their current value.

• To view your One Key rewards breakdown, please visit your One Key rewards activity page: https://www.hotels.com/account/rewards

So you can best utilize One Key across Expedia, Hotels.com, and Vrbo, your accounts will merge into one account, if they all have the same email addresses. Doing so will ensure you can seamlessly experience One Key and earn and redeem OneKeyCash across Expedia, Hotels.com, and Vrbo.

If all your email addresses across your accounts match, you don’t need to do a thing! We will automatically connect these accounts and give you access to your single account for the launch of One Key.

If your email addresses across your accounts don’t match at the time of moving across to One Key, your accounts will remain separate

If you only have an account with Expedia, Hotels.com, or Vrbo, your account will automatically work as your new shared account for One Key.

If you’d prefer not to have a shared account, you can delete your accounts (see below).

Hotels.com:
If you have a non-US Hotels.com Rewards accounts and switch to the US site you will be enrolled into One Key when you sign in . Y ou’ll have a One Key account on the US site, but your Hotels.com Rewards reward nights and stamps will remain on your original Hotels.com Rewards account outside of the US. To use these Hotels.com rewards, you’ll need to log into the Hotels.com Rewards account on the other site. One Key will be coming to additional markets starting in 2024.

Expedia:
If you have a non-US Expedia Rewards account and switch to the US site you will be enrolled into One Key when you sign in. Y ou’ll have a One Key rewards account on the US site, but your rewards will remain on your original Expedia Rewards account outside of the US. To use these Expedia Rewards, you’ll need to log into the Expedia Rewards account on the other site. One Key will be coming to additional markets starting in 2024.

What happens if I change my region to outside of the US?: One Key is currently only available in the US and in US Dollars. If you switch to another region, you’ll no longer be able to earn or use OneKeyCash or earn One Key trip elements. In addition, you won’t be able to earn or use OneKeyCash or earn One Key trip elements on bookings in the US in currencies other than US Dollars. You’re still eligible to earn Expedia Rewards and Hotels.com Rewards stamps and/ or reward nights on non-US sites if you have an Expedia Rewards or Hotels.com Rewards account.

Important note in case of deletion requests and ongoing or upcoming trips: If you have an ongoing or upcoming trip and ask us to delete your account, our Customer Service teams won’t be able to answer any questions, concerns, cancellations, refunds, etc. This is because when your account is deleted, our Customer Service team will not have your deleted account information anymore. Therefore, they may kindly ask you to re-submit your deletion request after your trip is completed. In addition, please find some options below to help with this issue:

• Wait until after your trip to submit the deletion request.

• Save a copy of all your itineraries and correspondence with us or the travel supplier before you request the deletion.

How to delete your account on Expedia, Hotels.com or Vrbo:

• Web: Log into your single account on the Expedia, Hotels.com or Vrbo website and go to Account > Settings > scroll down to the ‘Account management’ section and click on ‘Delete Account’.

• App: Log into your single account on your Expedia, Hotels.com or Vrbo app and go to Profile > Settings > scroll down to the ‘Account management’ section and click on ‘Delete account’.

• Web/Phone: Click on Support > Other > Privacy & Security > Request that we delete your data > Contact Us link and ask our Customer Services to delete your account.

• Chat: click on Support > Chat Now and ask our agent to delete your account.

• Important note if you have a Hotels.com Rewards Visa Credit Card: if you delete your Hotels.com account, you will no longer earn rewards from credit card purchases.
