The Space: This spacious, newly restored second-floor apartment features two bedrooms and two bathrooms, as well as a classic piazza with views of the scenic streets below. The convenient central location offers walking distance to wonderful restaurants, shops, historic sites, and the waterfront. In addition, a fabulous bakery café/coffee shop is located on the first floor of the property.

With a tranquil color palette and distinctive artwork throughout, the apartment features modern décor with a blush of Southern allure and historic touches such as original woodwork and flooring. Adding extra charm are stunning original brick fireplaces in the living area and master bedroom.

The kitchen boasts artisan tile work and quartz counters with the latest in modern stainless steel appliances including a dishwasher, microwave and coffeemaker. A kitchen island incorporates bar seating for three, and the lovely dining table seats six. The kitchen in complimented with sparkling dinnerware and an array of cooking essentials and accessories.

Each bedroom has a king bed with sumptuous linens and generous closet space. The bathrooms are serene perfection with beautiful fixtures, quartz surfaces, and large walk-in showers. A handy stack washer/dryer is included in a separate closet in the apartment for guest use. The unit is also filled with the latest in technology with flat-screen TVs in the living area and in one of the two bedrooms, plus high-speed cable and internet throughout.

The chronicle of how this gem of an apartment came to be and the tale of its namesake previous owner provide a traditional Charlestonian historic preservation story.
In 2018, a couple from New York City relocated to Charleston and bought the property at 62 Queen Street. Their vision was to bring the building and its heritage back to life, paying homage to the history born within its walls. The building was in a general state of disrepair following extended periods of neglect. So for more than two years the couple painstakingly restored the property and enlarged it for the enjoyment of generations to come.

The property owners worked extensively with preservation experts to have the building listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. This recognition celebrates the home's former owner Dianna Brown, who navigated through divisions of race and class to carve out a niche for herself in Charleston’s burgeoning antiquities market. Brown was the first Black woman in the city to enter the antiques trade in 1913, working until her death in 1949. Despite major limitations placed on women of color in the early 20th century, Brown's antique shop thrived and she left behind an enduring legacy.

Fast forward to the present, the property at 62 Queen Street, including the apartment called Dianna Brown’s Place, is available for guest stays in this Charleston French Quarter jewel – come visit soon!

Perfect Piazza
This home was wonderful! The location is in walking distance to most places you'd want to go to. The home itself was nicely decorated and comfortable, both inside and out. We loved the piazza. It was so relaxing sitting outside watching the people, dogs and horses go by. Any time we had a question, Stay Duvet responded quickly. We were extremely pleased with everything!

The location could not be any better. Easy to walk everywhere we wanted to go. The unit was clean, lovely decor, beds very comfortable and great porch for sitting outside for morning coffee. It’s located just above the cutest coffee shop, which was an extra bonus. I can’t wait to come stay here again to visit this lovely city.

This looked just like the pictures! The beds were super comfortable! This is an amazing location to tour downtown Charleston! Very clean! Loved the piazza!! A little morning noise from the coffee shop in the am but not a big deal at all!! Loved having a washer and dryer. We really enjoyed our stay- when our flights got canceled they let us add a night the last minute. Definitely recommend for two couples.

Fabulous experience on Queen Street
I want to start by noting that we received absolutely first rate service and responsiveness from the Stay Duvet team headed by Carly, who really went above and beyond to assure that we had a superb stay. The Unit was bright, attractively and comfortably furnished, with a delightful outdoor porch and eating area. The heating and cooling systems were efficient and quiet, and beds were very comfortable. Strong Internet made it easy to work remotely. The bathrooms were modern and bright. And the Queen location cannot be beat-quiet, but an easy walk to everything. Over all the unit is ideal for two couples.

2nd visit within one year.
It is as presented- charming updated apartment in a great location. No compromises in comfort or cleanliness. There is some soft music in the morning from outstanding bakery/restaurant below. If you’re a light sleeper and enjoy sleeping in it maybe an issue. Otherwise, I wouldn’t hesitate.
