Weekend Getaway
We had a wonderful time. The home was clean and looked just like the photos posted. The sliding glass door needs to be repaired, it was very difficult to open and close. We spent most of our time on the porch. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook as a family. We are planning another trip here in the future.

Perfect house
Loved the location, and closness of the beach. Only problem i had was the sliding door needed fixed but i could still pick it up to open it. Listing said all bedrooms were upstairs. Technically yes because the house is on stilts but when inside, you have 2 bedrooms downstairs and the master upstairs. I had a great time and will rent again.

Pros: This location is excellent. It’s away from all the tourist spots. Literally walk out the beach. Excellent views, large windows. 15 minute drive to the Seawall. The deck is huge, great place to watch sunrise and listen to the ocean. Large bedrooms, living space, and dining table. AC was great. Beds were comfy, lots of linen. WiFi and cable tv worked. Private parking. Cons: you can feel the house swaying, kitchen not well stocked (had to buy trash bags, dish soap, paper towels, cleaner). Deck has splinters and no shade between 1pm- 5pm. Will stay here again. We came to spend hours in sun, eat meals together and made memories.

Right on the beach, huge deck overlooking ocean. House was clean. If you want a clean no frills house on the beach this is a good one. The yard has way too much garbage blown in from the beach they don’t clean up, but otherwise no complaints.

Good location. A few things to improve: 1. Not timely feedback on questions. Listing says there is a grill, the manager said there was not so we did not bring charcoal (there is a nonfunctional one there). 2. Listing shows a lounge chair, but it wasn't there. 3. The front storm window cover wouldn't open and blocked the view of the ocean. Manager didn't reply when I texted/emailed. 4. Front door should have had instructions on how to lock. 5. They use a service which wasn't very timely with answers.

Great location but needs major repairs.
First off we did enjoy our three nights in the beach house. The location and view is great. I read all of the other reviews and some reviews complained about cars blocking the view from the deck. There is a public beach in front of the property but it would take a 20 foot tall truck to block your view. The house is old and needs updating and some structural repairs. The floor in one bedroom downstairs is about to collapse. The lower bathroom has a high spot in the floor and the toilet is leaning to the right. The air conditioning system works good except for two of the bedrooms are a little warm. The house is well equipped with kitchen pots and pans etc. There is no Barbecue pit or grill so bring your own. To sum it all up the owner of this property needs to take some of his profits and put it back into the house. The house is fine as long as you don’t own it or fall through the floor in some areas. I would rent this property again if they would lower the price.Trash cans need to be emptied more often.

This rental was FAIR
Let's start with a positive and say the price was FAIR. The AC was GREAT and all the appliances worked properly. The house is located in front of the public beach parking so our view was not of a beach but of vehicles parked at the beach. There was sand on the bar top and the windows were blurry so we spent the first hour cleaning. There were no paper towels to clean with so we made a trip to the local dollar store. The BBQ pit is an Old Smokey with no legs and zero bottom so the pile of ashes are on the concrete floor. We would never even consider cooking on it not even roasting a hot dog. The pit is non functional. The BEACH UMBRELLA? HA, that is a joke. It is the size of a rain umbrella and it is not functionable even for rain. The garden hose downstairs has so many leaks in it that the water never made it to the nozzle. We used the leaks to rinse off. The inside of the place needs attention and the downstairs toilet is about to fall through the floor. Do not weigh over 200lbs or else you may end up downstairs. Overall, this place is FAIR and the biggest disappointment was the view of the beach being obstructed by vehicles. We will not stay at this location again.

Fun trip with friends but the property has issues.
Let me start by the positives, the location was great, not a private entrance but we didn’t mind that, parking was easy. Ok, now the negatives when we arrived there was a trash can overflowing in the driveway and it was never emptied the whole time we were there, I called the property manager about it daily and she said she would call the city, still no one came to pick it up. We had to walk our trash down to the beach trash cans several times a day. The last night we were there another trash can appeared, that would have been nice the first time I asked about the trash. Another issue was when we first got to the house it smelled terrible and whatever the floor was mopped with had a slippery film all over, a couple of us almost fell. The worst part was the day before we left we saw roaches. Maybe the smell was bug spray? We had to wash every dish before using it because it was gross, and there were 3 forks-this property says it accommodates 10? We bought plastic wear. We had to ask for the sheets for the pullout couch. The barbecue grill had a big hole in the bottom so even though we bought hamburger meat, charcoal and lighter fluid we couldn’t use it-waist of money. The water pressure is the upstairs shower was terrible, at one point it turned off completely when I was in the shower. The outside deck had some lose screws sticking out, my handy husband fixes those on day 2 after I stepped one one. The outside deck railing on one side was shaky, he wanted to fix that but we couldn’t find screws. None of the remotes had batteries so we bought that too. Evolve was terrible also, I tried calling them weeks before our stay about the reservation, I also emailed and messaged on the app I was not able to get a hold of anyone.

Location! Location! Location! Steps away from the beach, no crowds, great view!
Exactly what we were looking for in a rental property. Excellent AC. Very comfortable beds. Minor things can be done to improve the property, but these things were not important to our stay because we came prepared and brought our own equipment. No beach umbrella, BBQ pit has hole in it. Beach chairs worn out. Need extra towels in bathrooms. Need batteries in TV remotes. Some light bulbs were burned out. Again, these things are minor. This area of Jamaica Beach is really nice. Extremely clean beach. Nice neighborhood. Nate’s Restaurant is a great place to eat fresh gulf shrimp. Loved this area and would definitely stay here again.

HAD A WONDERFUL STAY!!WAS THERE WITH MY DAUGHTER'S FAMILY; SHE HAS SMALL CHILDREN. THE BEACH IMMEDIATELY IN FRONT OF THE HOUSE HAS ABOUT 500 YARDS OF PUBLIC ACCESS, BUT YOU JUST TAKE YOUR STUFF TO THE OTHER SIDE OF A BARRIER A FEW YARDS AWAY AND IT'S PRIVATE. HAD A GREAT STAY, VERY COMFORTABLE. BRING BATH SOAP. NO KEUREG, BRING GROUND COFFEE AND FILTERS.

Not quite as pictured.
This property is very old and only deserves a two star rating. The bathrooms are in adequate and the access to the property is very poor. While it is on the beach, the direct access into the house is up a very risky stairway. The cement foundation underneath is very uneven, I tripped and fell on the raised edge in the middle of the foundation. Therefore it is not safe. The pictures make this place look really top notch, however, it is not. It is definitely lacking. Maybe the price should be reduced based on the facts.

Our family vacation
First of all, my family and I had a great time! The house could use some minor repairs and a little cosmetic things here and there, but it's an old beach house! The beach is steps away and I could watch the waves crashing into the beach while cooking. Heaven! The only thing about the location that I didn't like was how far away it is from all the amenities. But this was my first time in Galveston so now I know. But for a little more privacy this house was great!! Overall we had a great stay and loved the house! It was clean, easy to find, and entry to the house was super easy. Definitely recommend for a simple beach getaway!

Good home-horrible bed.
The house and location are really nice but the master bed is shameful. It’s got a deep cavern down the center of it that unusable. We had to sleep in bedroom #2, just so we wouldn’t both be trapped in the sinkhole. 2 earlier reviews mention the master bed to which the property management company replied “the owner has replaced furniture” but they left the junk mattress behind. So that isn’t an accurate statement. I haven’t seen a bed look this bad in fifty years. Also, there’s fence down and all the locals go zipping back and forth to the beach-thru the property driveway.

Location, location, location
Overall, location was the best thing going for this property. It is very dated. It needs some serious structural attention. The perimeter walls and floors are severely water damaged and spongy, to the point that the entire house sways anytime someone walked on the stairs or the wind gusted. The smell of mildew/mold was pretty extreme. If you have mold allergies, I would recommend staying somewhere else. However, the beachfront location is really nice, and the large deck outside was great as well. The public access road right next to the house is pretty busy, so watch your kids and pets if you are outside. Also had 3 rattlesnakes in the yards, so be aware.

Great Location
House was a great location and just a few steps to the beach. Cozy, but fine for 2 families with 5 children total. And a great price! Note that right next to the house is the public beach access where vehicles go pretty fast through the sand in order to avoid getting stuck in the sand (which most/many did!). Overall, the house was clean with plenty of bath towels. It is an older home, and when you sat or stood still you could feel the house swaying. My friend stated it reminded her of being on a cruise ship at times. The dryer's lint basket was completely broken and unusable and probably has been for some time. The lint line should definitely be cleaned out soon - it is a fire hazard as it is completely full of lint and sand. The refrigerator was leaking and took a full 24 hours to cool after we loaded it up with the weekend's groceries. The bathrooms could use some updating and the master bath shower is VERY small. One of the men is 6'3" and he did not fit. The oven/stove is new and worked great. Only 1 small cookie sheet and no cutting boards in the home. Pots and pans are falling apart and could use to be replaced soon. The charcoal grill looked dingy, but it worked for hamburgers and hot dogs one night. We stayed over Labor Day weekend and the ocean water was blue! Rare for Galveston and a welcome surprise. The kids had a blast and the beach was very clean. You should bring bug spray if you plan to walk to the beach at sunset/night. The mosquitos were bad near the dunes. Overall, we enjoyed our weekend!

The upstairs bed was very uncomfortable. There was not a private access to the beach, only a public access road next to the house (which was fine) Cars did travel pretty fast down the road so if you were walking you had to move out of the way. Overall though, it was very nice and I loved it! I would stay there again! Just needs a new mattress upstairs! :)

We loved it! We didn't want to leave!!!
There was ONLY one thing we didn't like and I tell it at the end as it does stand out but We loved it, we had a blast it worked so well with a family the home was right in front of the ocean we didn't have to worry about the kiddos wanting to run back for something and have to pass other properties first. The view was perfect, shopping was 20ish minutes away for all meals at the local walmart and alot of quick stops closer, the beds was comfortable, it was so easy just to step out and go to the beach and at night it was very relaxing and we seen things on the beach that wasn't there in the day so everyone so enjoyed it!!! couple things we noticed was the fridge stunk and was broken in places it smelled like fish in the freezer also (so bad we would not use the ice from the ice maker and i really didn't want to put our food in the fridge, one drawer was broke the other had gross stuff left from fish or something I'm not sure so the condition of the black fridge that you see in the pictures on the beach house site is the one! We are not wanting to complain but that was really the only negative thing and also important (its where you put your food) And again we had such a good time it was wonderful we all absolutely wanted to stay and we want to come back again and again!!!!

An okay house we made the best of.
We enjoyed our stay and the description and most prior reviews are pretty accurate. It is on a public beach access road, so it was a bit busy next to the house. We couldn't hear anything inside, but we had to be careful with our dogs and kid on our way to the beach because cars zoom in and out of there. The house itself was nice. Overall it was clean. You could tell it was do for a deep cleaning as dust and dead bugs had collected under beds and next to dressers. We would have never noticed if our daughter hadn't pushed toys and clothes under the bed! We did see a live cockroach in the panty, but that's the only one. It's a beach house, we expect it to have a few bugs from time to time! The home itself, while it could use some updates, was in really good condition. The pictures are an accurate representation that you see online. The under house area was nice to stage our fishing gear and golf cart. The grill left a lot to be desired, we actually ended up going and buying our own grill at walmart then taking it back home with us. We did enjoy the gated deck and the hose at the top of the stairs, it made it really easy to corral kids and the dog and get them rinsed off after the beach. The outdoor shower downstairs was never used. It was filled with junk when we got here and when we cleaned it out we discoved rusted rods sticking up from the pavement, so we opted for the upstairs house instead which worked just fine. The negative to the property was that there was trash EVERYWHERE including a large amount of broken glass outside. We called the property manager listed as a contact as soon as we arrived to get it cleaned. They said someone would be out the next day but they never came. We ended up sweeping up all the glass ourselves and picking up trash. We did discover that unfortunately, people throw bottles and trash out their window as they drive down the beach access road as we would wake up to some everyday, sad really. Overall, the house provided a clean, safe vacation for us and we made the best of it and had a great time. The location on the island couldn't have been better! We wouldn't seek to rent this house out again, but would consider it if it was one of the only ones available.
