SUPER cute place to stay. It’s low key, close enough to walk and visit all the shops and restaurants but down a street with a lot less bustle so it’s reasonably quiet. This was perfect for our one night away for our 5 year wedding anniversary. I think it’s worth mentioning how much cheaper it was to stay here than a lot of the surrounding hotels also. We didn’t use it but I loved seeing a decent sized refrigerator in the room. Coffee on tap and tea readily available was great. TVs have all streaming apps which was nice too. When I booked the room, I requested a reserved parking space which was super easy and convenient, would definitely recommend for this area as parking isn’t always desirable. We would 100 percent come back and stay here again!

This small, boutique inn has only a few rooms so guests are almost guaranteed peace and quiet. The only thing I would add would be to have hot, caffeinated coffee in the informal living room. And perhaps a little more heat. The staff are congenial and accommodating: all good!

Location was amazing but property itself I was not a fan of. Moldy rusty shower, tiny bathroom poorly lit throughout room,stains on carpets, bed was so bad we couldnt wait to leave.. My college dorm room was more comfortable than this tiny room. Staff is amazing and friendly and check in and wireless key was super convenient. Also coffee on tap and water was wonderful. I wanted to love this property more but am grateful for an amazing weekend and for this lovely town.

The Ale House Inn exceded our expectations. We were on a multi stop trip and ended in Portsmouth for a little getaway. Our previous stay was a large suite but nothing was very endearing about the place. Walking into the Ale House Inn was a serious upgrade from the last place. The second floor entrance to the actual Inn area was a place you want to sit and relax, with cold brew and water on tap and a lovely little sitting area. Our room was small but cozy, perfectly appointed, spotless, comfortable and we loved it. We’ll be coming back to Portsmouth because it’s such a wonderful place and there is no doubt we’ll be going back to the Ale House Inn!

Love the location to our favorite Portsmouth restaurants and to Wallingford Square just over the bridge. Nice walk the next morning to Lil's for a coffee and their infamous crullers after a lovely evening in Portsmouth. The Ale House is an eclectic spot yet with the charm and the history. Clearly the best of both worlds for your next visit to the Seacoast.
