About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire cabin to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

St. Helens Cabin

Adorable cabin sets on 6 acres with the Cowlitz River a short walk. The St. Helens Cabin at Cowlitz River Cabins Retreat is a 1036 square foot fully furnished, beautiful A-frame cabin representing the quintessential style of vacation homes. This A-frame is as affordable as it is adorable!

The cabin’s exterior is made of hand scribed logs and cedar siding presenting a rustic charm, making it the perfect woodsy getaway. The interior has a spacious feel due to the open floor plan and the 22-ft vaulted ceiling, which soars above the great room. The room is bathed in sunlight by large windows with uniquely crafted valances. Featured in the center of the great room, sits a gas stove, which burns with the natural look of real wood, and warms the entire first & second floors. The kitchen includes an island, which provides ample space for preparing meals and/or serves as an eating bar. A huge skylight brightens both the kitchen and dining areas.

The romantic bedroom/loft overlooks the living room and features beautiful mission style furniture. When your day is done, the queen size bed envelops your body. On the main floor, there are 2 built-in cozy bunker beds (2 queen mattresses) with curtains that draw closed for privacy.

Outside, a wide set of stairs that bring you up to the entrance features patios on each side. A private jetted hot tub sits on one side and on the other, a barbecue and picnic table to enjoy an outdoor meal.

Cowlitz River Cabin Retreat serves equally well as a weekend cabin, summer retreat, or a ski chalet. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy its proximity to White Pass Recreation area and Gifford Pinchot National Forest, which offers many year round recreational opportunities. If it's peace and tranquility that you’re seeking, you might curl up with a good book or take a stroll down to the river and sit and listen to the water!

This woodland site is shared with numerous wildlife creatures such as elk, deer, raccoons, and geese, to name a few. In the early morning and evening hours, frogs from a nearby pond will occasionally serenade you. If you look overhead, you will often spot a pair of eagles soaring high above, but sometimes you have to take a closer look as what your seeing may instead be hang-gliders who have leaped off nearby dog-mountain, soaring like eagles and are a real treat to watch!

Peaceful stay
Great place to stay. A cautionary note to older travelers, the loft has a ladder for access. My wife and I choose to sleep downstairs to avoid any issues with climbing up and down several times a night. Anyone over 60 will understand. Just a pointer, the sign for the property is challenging to see at night.

I had a blast here! Close to the flea market and grocery store. This place was way bigger than I thought it was, and I'm pretty sure we ate blackberries for breakfast lunch and dinner:) Thank you for lending us your amazing cabin!

Lovely Getaway
Spent the weekend at this lovely cabin with my wife and our dog. Fantastic getaway from the hustle of the city. Watched the stars at night, took a dip in the hot tub and made the short stroll several times to the beautiful Cowlitz River. A wonderful brewery and an excellent Mexican restaurant is only 7 miles away in Packwood. We will return.

Lovely Stay, Clean, and there are other cabins on this property
We liked this rental, which worked great for us, but it wasn't as private as we would have wanted. There are other rentals around you, and people walked past us on our little driveway as we sat in the hot tub. There is not a view of the river from the cabin, but the surrounding trees are lovely. The short walk to the river is a pleasant stroll through forest, berries, and undergrowth. The downstairs beds are cramped and have the space of a double mattress, not a queen, as the roof slants over the bed, so part of the mattress only has 5 inches between the roof and the mattress. It was the perfect place for us to stay as we explored Mt. Rainer and the surrounding areas.

Great cabin on the river
My husband and I and our two dogs had a great weekend getaway at this cabin. The river is wonderful (although very rocky) and the cabin itself was comfortable and had everything we needed. It was a hot weekend and we chose to sleep downstairs, but were perfectly comfortable with the windows open at night and fans going. A few points of clarification that I feel are important: there are other cabins nearby and the outdoor space shown in the pictures is shared, so not quite as secluded as it may appear to be. Also, the driving instructions say that once you've turned into the driveway, it is the cabin straight ahead--this is incorrect. It is the cabin down the hill to the right. We found the cabin to be very clean overall, although found the dishes to be quite dirty, most likely due to guests doing their own dishes, since it's clear the rest of the cabin was cleaned very well. Overall we enjoyed our stay!

Good for relaxing or staying busy
This is a good home base if you’re enjoying nearby recreation, or want to stay in and chill. I appreciated the available extra bedding and plenty of towels. We enjoyed and utilized the trail down to the river, hot tub. And fire pit (bring your own firewood or cash to buy bundles on-site). As this is an A-frame, make sure you’re comfortable with a ladder climb to the loft.
