Travel Guide
St Maarten and St Martin
Get to know one of Oregon’s first coastal resort towns. Ride a historic carousel, feed seals and watch sunsets from a famous promenade.

Made for glorious summer days, and just as enticing for winter storm watching, Seaside offers a fun visit for the whole family. Explore endless stretches of beach, dig razor clams, fly kites and hike or bike trails. One of the Oregon Coast’s larger beach towns, Seaside maintains a small, hometown ambiance.

Stroll along the famous Promenade or Prom at the beach. The car Turnaround is one of the state’s most recognizable landmarks. As early as the 1920s, residents gathered here to eat, drink and visit. Enjoy incredible views of sand dunes, Tillamook Head and the Pacific Ocean.

Feed the resident seals of Seaside Aquarium. For more than 80 years, the aquarium has educated visitors on local marine wildlife through varied conservation programs. Head outside to look for a migrating gray whales and scan the skyline for shorebirds, sea birds and eagles.

Enjoy a spin on the historic carousel two blocks from the beach in the Carousel Mall. Ride on the giant rabbit, pink ostrich, giraffe or other whimsical animal.

Just across the river stop at the Seaside Antique Mall, where 100 dealers display varied collections. For a snapshot of Seaside’s past, visit the Seaside Museum and Historical Society.

Set off in a rental kayak or canoe from the Necanicum River dock near the convention center. Guided trips are available from various outlets in town. Leave the town to explore Tillamook Head National Recreation Trail and Ecola State Park.

End the day with farm-to-table fare and locally brewed craft beer. Taste some of the world’s best clam chowder, try local smoked salmon and finish your meal with an Oregon berry dessert. Drink a pint from Seaside Brewing Company, whose brewing process starts with fresh rainwater.

Travel to Seaside in 90 minutes by car from Portland. The popular oceanfront resort town is a good jumping-off point for explorations along the coast, from Astoria to Cannon Beach.

"The property was perfect for our needs. Very clean but not an overwhelming odder from cleaning products. No carpet is a big plus for our family. The accommodations felt warm and inviting. The only negative I can see at all is the checkout time of 10am is a bit early, 11 would be much better."
