"My husband and I just spent 3 nights at Playa Maya. We got to the hotel a little late, but was greeted by Marvin (I believe he's night time security) who helped us to our room. The hotel doesn't have a street entrance so you must walk through the beach, which was fine, we're at the beach anyway! They provide fresh water for the rooms and ours was cleaned nicely everyday. "The location of the hotel is great, in a more quiet part of the fifth street, very close to good restaurants and beach. The staff is generally great, except for the breakfast team. Unfortunately the breakfast is not great at all, very limited, and the breakfast staff is flat-out rude and have no standards for service. Would not recommend to pay extra for daily breakfast, the hotel should focus more on the rooms and guest service instead of trying to upsell breakfast, if this is not a priority."

"Was a decent hotel with some issues. We checked in on a Saturday, third floor room and the elevator was out of service. Was told it was fixed only for us to then get stuck in the elevator. We checked out Monday and the elevator was still out of order. Not fun lugging your luggage up and down 3 floors. The rooftop pool looked like it had not been cleaned recently. Oily haze and hair floating around made it unappealing. Went only once as it was not great. "
