The Tower of the Americas invites you to “take your adventure to new heights” when you visit San Antonio. That’s exactly what you can do at the 750-foot-tall (230-meter) tower in the downtown area. Gaze out over the city, have a meal or enjoy a show at the 4D theater.
The main highlight of the tower is the Flags Over Texas Observation Deck. From here you can look in all directions, trying to spot landmarks you’ve seen during your city visit. Use the modern and historic photos to help you identify places and understand the evolution of this important Texas city. Murals and informational signs explain how Spain, France and Mexico influenced the region over 300 years and under six flags.
Skies Over Texas is a 4D theater ride that lets you tour key spots all across the state. See a Friday night high school football game under the lights, a rodeo and longhorn cattle drive, historical reenactments of the Alamo and modern NASA space activities, along with gorgeous scenery from the entire state. Additional 4D shows may be available.
The site offers several dining options. Enjoy a casual meal at the Tower Café locations at the observation deck and ground level. Make reservations and dress up for fine dining at the revolving Chart House restaurant with gorgeous views. Have a drink with a view at Bar 601, which offers happy hour specials.
Check the schedule of events to find out what activities will be happening at the base of the tower during your visit. Monthly car shows, free family-friendly outdoor movies and market days offer enticing appeal.
Tower of the Americas is open daily until late evening so you can see the lights of the city. Purchase tickets, which provide access to the Observation Deck, Flags Over Texas and 4D Theater Ride.
