"The Captain Stannard house is a true gem in Westbrook. There are many restaurants, shops, parks, and beaches close by. The property has a private yard and a large rear porch for relaxation. My room was impeccably clean and spacious for being the smallest one in the house. Dianne was incredibly sweet and went out of her way to help all the guests. "

"We had a wonderful stay at Carey and Peter's house. The view of the ocean is magical, and the house itself is beautifully decorated. I fell asleep to the sound of the ocean waves - what could be better? Also, Carey was very responsive and easy-going. I'll be dreaming of when I can come back!"

"Our stay at this property was generally wonderful. The neighborhood is quiet and very walkable and there are grocery stores and restaurants within just a few miles. And Mystic CT and Essex CT (you have to stroll the Main Street shops in Essex) are a short car ride away. The star of the house is the view from the family room, back patio, 2nd floor bedroom, and the 3rd floor bedroom deck. So gorgeous. There was a glitch when we arrived and the owners were super nice and responsive. We worked things out very quickly. Just a few things to keep in mind. The bedroom on the second floor is spacious, has a full wall of windows showcasing the water and spectacular sunrises and sunsets, but its floors are warped/slanted. You cannot see it but you can feel it walking around the bedroom. The main bedroom on the top level is cozy and the outdoor deck off the bedroom is fantastic for watching birds on the water or just looking at the waves, but the third-floor bathroom is tiny. It works for one person, but it is tight. Lastly, as some other reviewers have noted, the home is right on a small beach but the tide makes the beach unusable for most of the day. So, if you are planning to walk the beach, you’ll have a short window to do so. But - in warm weather, you can still sit on the back patio facing the water and chill out even if the tide is too high to be on the beach. In summary, we had a very relaxing time!"

"The property was clean. The pictures in the ads made it clear that it was supposed to be a waterfront property. It was not. The pictures were taken on a neighbors private property that actually does sit on the water. The fireplace did not work. The only beach access was through a public park which was immediately next to the house. There were several slats missing from the blinds in the bedroom facing the parking lot which was about 8 feet away. Very disappointing for what was supposed to be a special birthday weekend for my wife."
