Excellent LocationPosted Jul 14, 2014
Pros: Location, size, friendliness of staff.
Cons: Nothing comes to mind.
Location: Perfectly located for restaurants, shopping & sightseeing overlooking the sea.
Found everything about this hotel to be excellent. Ideally situated in centre of town right opposite beach & harbour. Perfect for catching the ferries & sightseeing trips by boat or bus. Staff were very friendly & helpful, rooms clean & nicely decorated. Buffet breakfast was very good & catered for everyone. Very close to main area for shops & excellent restaurants. Take time to sit on terrace overlooking the sea & enjoy the cocktails.

The hotel was great close to beach, shops, ferries and restaurants. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was yummy and on the terrace with view of the water was amazing. Would stay there again.

Nice hotel, perfect location.Posted Jul 4, 2014
Cons: Buffet breakfast included. The continental breakfast was nice though the cooked breakfast was standard.
Nice hotel which was well maintained. The staff were very accommodating and escalated a query we had to the hotel manager who went out of his way to help us. Perfect location in the centre of Amalfi which lies in close proximity to the main shops and restaurants and right across the road from the beach and transport links (bus and boat).

Great Value for AmalfiPosted Jun 22, 2014
I have just returned from a 7 night stay at this hotel. My sister who travelled with me was anxious about our trip as she had seen a few historical negative comments about the hotel on Trip Advisor. All unfounded I have to say. Our holiday was based around a family wedding Amalfi. I was able to have a look around other hotels in the resort that were occupied by other family members. I believe that we had the best value for money in what is regarded as an expensive holiday destination. I wouldn't hesitate in returning to the Hotel Residence. The rooms are exceptionally clean and spacious. Excellent double glazing offers a choice between the Italian buzz on the streets or total silence. Attentive staff, good breakfast, great location.

Highly recommendedPosted Jun 13, 2014
Pros: The staff were very helpful and just genuinely nice people. The accommodation was spotless. We loved sitting on the terrace - just people watching.
Location: The hotel is ideally located - within a few yards of the beach, main square and bus stop. Steep climb to 99% of all other accommodation.
Visited the Hotel Residence with my Mum and our friend betweem 30 May & 6 June 2014. Had a fantasitc time. Its a fairly expensive resort but that is what you expect before you go. Transfers from airport are worth looking into - I hired a car but the car parking in Amalfi amounted to £120 - making the arranged transfers around the same price.

Wonderful location.Posted Jun 6, 2014
Pros: The Terrace staff Anthonia and Rafael are wonderful, as indeed are all of the reception staff. So enjoyable having breakfast on the terrace.
Location: Amalfi is ideal, with the Cathedral, good restaurants and friendly locals. Reasonable boat trips to Capri and various other villages.
This is our second stay at this hotel, and the reason we selected Hotel Residence is that the location is ideal, and that all of the staff are very friendly, helpful and professional . The beach is right across from the hotel, as are the bus stops and boat trips less than five minutes walk.

Beautiful location in AmalfiPosted Jun 1, 2014
Pros: Beautiful breakfast room and staff. Clean rooms. Quiet even on the waterfront side with all of the traffic. We'll stay there again when we return.
Cons: They did fix the air conditioning before we left.
Location: Walk Amalfi, bus to Ravello and walk back, boat to Positano.
Beautiful hotel located right in the main area of Amalfi. Buses and boats all right next to the hotel. Easy to get anywhere. They had a problem with their air conditioning for 2 of our 3 nights there but they very nicely adjusted out bill for to compensate us for the problem.

great hotel for intro to AmalfiPosted May 28, 2014
Pros: right on the main beach area and room was able to block street noise when windows closed for sleeping. decent breakfast included, great views.
Cons: price, but I say that about everywhere.
Location: easy tourist shopping, interesting church, some very nice restaurants along with pizzerias.
great staff, bartender, room w a view on ocean as an upgrade. Yes, it's full of tourists but it's Amalfi!

Beautiful hotel in the middle of the action!Posted May 15, 2014
My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. We used the location as a launching pad from which to explore the many attractions throughout the Amalfi Coast and islands. The location was superb for ease of transportation (buses and ferries just outside the front door), quick access to restaurants, entertainment, museums, history and gelato (!!) and the hotel staff is beyond helpful. Wonderfully clean, and great breakfast. There were only 2 drawbacks for us: 1) the loudness factor. We could hear our neighbors in the next room flipping TV channels, and the hallways are echoey so we could very clearly hear everyone's conversations as they came and went from their rooms, or (as was the case one night) congregated in one of the common areas on our floor. If this type of noise bothers you, bring earplugs and be prepared to ask folks to be more cognizant of the echo chamber they're in. 2) I didn't realize just how touristy Amalfi would be in May. I read that it was the beginning of tourism season but didn't expect the numbers of people who were there (I was still assured that was NOTHING - gulp). So, if you're looking for quiet, relaxing mornings & evenings where you can hear the birds sing, and enjoy breakfast al fresco without honking horns and bus fumes, you'd be better suited to a B&B outside of any of the towns. Otherwise, stay at Hotel Residence and enjoy every second of its beauty, location and hospitality.

Center of town.Posted Apr 29, 2014
Pros: Clean comfortable room.
Cons: Staff helpfulness.
Location: Food was great in this city but touristy and overpriced.
Hotel was nice. Staff/Desk clerk was underwhelming. Not very helpful with restaurant ideas etc.
