Close to Main Arenal ActivitiesPosted Jun 29, 2015
Hotel is close to everything (zip line tours, hot springs), so it's conveniently located and easy to get around town from here. I felt that the food in the main restaurant was overpriced. We were told that happy hour was from 5-6 and the bartender refused to acknowledge that. That was really weird. The rest of the staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

Great place for a honeymoon!Posted Jun 27, 2015
We stayed at mountain paradise for a week for our honeymoon. The staff were all very nice an helpful. The room was awesome and spacious, the only thing we didn't like was the bed was too hard, and the waterfall shower (which was one of our favorite things about the room) stayed hot for only 10 minutes if that. Also, they had a coffee maker in the room, but no coffee and if you want went and bought coffee you would be charged for using the coffee maker. We loved the towel animals they left on our bed everyday! The pool was where we spent most of our time, very relaxing, and we loved the swim up bar. The staff played fun music and the drinks were great! They only had one restauraunt open while we were there which was a disappointment because they said there were 2 restaurants that we would be able to eat at. The food at the restaurant was decent but nothing too special. Overall we had a good time, but if you are traveling during the rainy season be prepared for rain, every single day!! Bring umbrellas and rain jackets!!

Hidden gemPosted Jun 18, 2015
Pros: Room and facilities are kept very clean being they are in the middle of the rainforest!
Cons: Dinner menu was a bit pricey for the quality of the food. Eat elsewhere other than breakfast.
Location: Centralized. Within minutes of the National park and all tourist activities: Bridges, waterfalls, forest, volcano, ATV, hot springs, etc. Hard to find
Hotel was hard to find but worth it. Secluded and surrounded by nature. Rooms are spacious and double showers. The waterfall shower and plants in the room gave you a feeling of the rainforest that was priceless! Beds are a little hard for my taste but we barely slept! Pool was heated. Limited bar and food was overpriced for the quality. The free breakfast is awesome and filling! True feel of Costa Rica's motto: Pura Vida!

Great hotel with access to numerous activitiesPosted Jun 2, 2015
Cons: Could use a gift shop. The hotel is fairly remote and it would have been nice to have a place on site to purchase snacks.
Location: There were multiple excursion opportunities near by such as waterfalls, rainforest canopy, rivers, and chances to view the wildlife.
The resort was very exclusive and private. The hotel staff was extremely helpful, booking any excursion we desired, often on very short notice. The grounds and rooms were beautiful. Each terrace was private and gave an excellent view of the volcano.

Good place, but some improvements needs to be donePosted May 18, 2015
Pros: Friendly staff, always willing to help
Cons: Up keep of the hotel.
Location: Arenal Hike, Zip Lining, Water Fall hike, Tobacon, and Naraya Restaurant.
Nice place, when we first arrived it was around 1130 pm. Staff seems a little reserved, not as welcoming as other places, but they were nice and willing to help. Lighting around the resort was ok, a little more light would help when walking at night. There was a light to our room that was always out and hard to see, so I used my cell phone light so I can see where I was going or if there was anything in my path. Some insects would get in because the screens need to be replaced. Nice place, but needs some up keep. We reserved 2 premium suites, but they upgraded us to the master without asking or letting us know. Bathrooms do not look like they do in the pics, waterfall shower didnt work properly, regular shower took forever to get hot water. Room itself was good, A/C worked great, thermal pool was nice to relax in after all the hiking/zip lining.

Good but could be GreatPosted Mar 20, 2015
Pros: Private, clean, quiet and comfortable beds.
Cons: friendlier staff
Location: Arenal Volcano, Hot Springs
I think that this hotel has the potential to be better than it is. I felt the front staff were trying to hard to create a experience with the check in, but after traveling so long we just wanted a quick check in so we could get to our rooms. We didnt need towels, and a speech sitting down on the couches about the amenities etc. It felt awkward and the guy checking us in actually rolled his eyes at us a few times. The hotel room was secluded and private and just what we needed for the night. I liked how there was a private sitting area in the back of the room. The hot tub was made more for one person not a couple. It was also disappointing when I asked the front when the restaurant was open until and I was told that I could not eat there because I would have had to make a reservation. As we walked to our room we noticed there was only one table of customers so we decided to ask instead. We were seated right away and the service although not friendly but efficient. I later found out the staff work from 6am-10pm and as we were at the restaurant at 9pm that is understandable. Overall the hotel was nice but they could do so much better in service. The staff do not need to act with an air of snootiness, they just have to relax and be friendly like every other place we stayed on our trip to Costa Rica.

Fint och prisvärt!Posted Mar 3, 2015 on Hotels
Åk hit! Härliga rum med stora rum och fint inrett. Restaurangen var bra och Polen trevlig. Allt är lite slitet men det är lätt att köpa då det är hjärta i personalen. Prisvärt!

Beautiful cottage-like room with sod roofPosted Feb 27, 2015
Cons: Staff could have been more attentive. I had to wait several times when I needed assistance.
We loved our stay at Mountain Paradise Hotel. It didn't seem like any hotel I have ever stayed at before. Grass and flowers were growing on our roof. There was a "waterfall" shower with plants growing in the VERY large bathroom. We had a very private deck with two rockers and a hot tub! We were right in the rainforest, and it rained a lot. Bring rain gear - even in the dry season because it rains all the time. I have already recommended this hotel to several friends. It was a lovely, very unique experience. Did I mention the beautiful grounds with all the birds? When you eat breakfast, you can see many different birds nearby, and breakfast was fantastic!

Some big pluses and a bunch of little minuses.Posted Feb 11, 2015
The staff was friendly and very helpful. The grounds were very nicely landscaped. Although we didn't use the pool, it seemed very nice with a swim-up bar. The restaurant was comfortable and had a great view of the volcano, although we never saw the top of the volcano due to the clouds. The food was average; nothing to write home about. The room itself was generally clean and the bed was comfortable. We had some trouble with the AC. It was noisy at first, and then spit out some ice that had built up. After that it was fine. The waterfall shower was a bit on the cheesy side, and really did not function that well as a shower. Fortunately, there was a real shower that worked just fine. The hotel is not within walking distance of town or the volcano park, or really anything. So it is a very long walk or car ride (or horseback ride) to get anywhere.
