Good location; close to beach

Pros: Helpful staff; convenient location for beach and boardwalk.
Cons: My stay was good. Not aware of any serious deficiencies.
Location: Close to casinos and outlet shopping. Quick drive to Borgata for shows.
Helpful staff. Good outdoor restaurant for breakfast and close to pool. Excellent bargain all around.

Wonderful hotel, close to beach and nightlife

Pros: The hotel was inviting, clean, and genuinely seemed to care about the those who stayed there . The staff (except for 1 person)was wonderful.
Cons: A little more security between the Jacuzzi and the pool that was on the other side. A couple of suspicious characters were coming in and out.
Location: Location was key. Near the beach and nightlife on the beach. Tropicana Casino was right next door. Light shows, nightlife, WOW!!!!!
Upon my entry to The Chelsea I was greeted with a smile and a "Hello". The front desk was warm and inviting. It wasn't crowded, I'm going to guess because I checked in on a Tuesday. It was a very easy check in(and check out). My hotel room was great and the bed of course after traveling for over an hour was very inviting Had a wonderful and restful, night sleep (when I wasn't out partying at Tropicana (no rest for the weary:-).) and I didn't wake up with my usual aches and pains.The spa wasn't open at the time but that was not what I was there for. Where is the Jacuzzi I asked? According to the front desk it was part of a spa package or I would have to pay $15 a day to use it. Wasn't happy about that but I they accommodated me with free passes for myself and my guess since it was my birthday. Boy did I use it. I would suggest a little more security between the Jacuzzi and the pool that was on the other side. A couple of suspicious characters were coming in and out, otherwise my experience in their Jacuzzi was the best I had in a very long time. I didn't really eat much but they had a wonderful breakfast special that I did enjoy one morning. My waitress was friendly, knowledgeable and smiled. There was also a drink special (happy hour 4-6pm) that I missed because I was out sightseeing or shopping. Maybe they can make it later for those of us who just need something to unwind later in the day but maybe I'll catch it next time. Thank you Chelsea!!

They forgot to send me a pull out bed. There were no hooks in the bathroom as they had fallen off and not replaced. Even the toilet paper holder fell. The carpet was wet it felt nasty so I wore my slippers the whole time in the room. Overall it was an ok experience nothing great!

Retro-themed hotel is really just old

Pros: Location is key and the 1950's theme is cute.
Cons: Cleanliness, the upkeep and condition of furniture, rugs and wallpaper.
Location: On the Atlantic City boardwalk, within walking distance of all the gambling and shopping.
The Chelsea sells itself with glossy, beautiful photos, but when you arrive, you immediately see that a 1950's themed hotel might just be that old, and not well-taken care of. The rooms looked dated intentionally, but so does the condition of furniture which is scratched, wallpaper is peeling, rugs are stained, and the hotel in general is not well-maintained. The staff tries their best to provide good service, and the location on the Atlantic City boardwalk is the hotel's most attractive selling point, but for a few dollars more a night, you can go to a better known hotel and get top shelf service and updated facilities.

The desk staff is rude, they act as if they are doing you a favor by doing their jobs poorly. i purchased the spa pass to use the hot tubs only to find that anyone can walk in and use it without paying. they tried to charge me for valet parking that i did not use. their check in policy causes guest to line up like cattle for 45 minutes to check in. The hot tubs need cleaning, the paint is peeling off of the ceiling in the solarium. many of the other guests that i spoke with were equally unhappy. ive been staying here for the last few years and it goes downhill a bit more each time. I will not be returning.

Not what it was chalked up to be

check in process was not well managed - very long lines - very unfriendly staff. staff who checked us in became argumentative about signage for valet vs self parking. never acknowledged us, welcomed us, wished us a good stay. 100% sure this is a fire/safety violation - the sprinkler in our room was covered in a washcloth and affixed with a rubberband. walls between rooms are very thin - had to call security twice due to noise level and banging next door at around 0300 - 0400. The property is dated - for the rate we paid - we expected something more "boutique" like. Very disappointed. I would definitely NOT recommend and I would definitely NOT return.

I did not have a good experience at this hotel. When i arrive at the desk to check in the receptionist was very nasty. She was very rude. I had a question and she talked over me and would not allow me to speak. She rolled her eyes as if I was wasting her time. Once Iarrived to my room the bed was very disgusting. There was sand in the bed and in the bedding.The bathroom was filthy. I called housekeeping to change the sheets and clean the room. The room appearance was not as photographed on the website. It was very small for the price we paid to stay there. Overall I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Hotel is old and in need of renovation

Adequate for a one night stay, but not for any longer. It is in desperate need of renovations. Check in was horrible, very long lines that moved slow. The shower had no water pressure. The bed was comfortable and it was quiet. Very expensive for a hotel that was comparable to a Day's Inn.

Ok Stay

Pros: Comfortable bed and pillows.
Location: About 100 feet from the Boardwalk. Close to the Tropicana and Boardwalk Hall.
100 feet from the Boardwalk. Room was clean. Bed was more comfortable than other name brands I've stayed in. Not a place for business work. Internet speed worse than dial-up. Would have stayed at a casino but when we booked they were falling left and right, so chose The Chelsea. All in all, nothing to write home about or pics to post on Facebook.
