Best Western Marais Bastille

36 Boulevard Richard Lenoir, Paris 75011 - Map
"A few days in Paris"
This is an updated hotel very close to the Metro station in a pretty nice neighborhood. Good bakery and grocery store around the corner along with several restaurants including a great (and very popular) pizza joint. Rooms are spacious for the price and beds are quite comfortable. Bathrooms are a bit small but laid out well. Friendly staff bend over backward for you. There are deficiencies (AC didn't work so room is stuffy & street is too noisy to open window; can't use hair dryer in the bathroom) but all in all I would stay again.

Pocket Guide: Paris Bastille - Republique Best Western Pet-friendly Hotels

Northeast of Place de la Bastille, this working-class neighbourhood is gradually becoming fashionable with younger Parisians. Trendy boutiques, cafés and bars are replacing the older shops and bistros, although some old-fashioned workshops survive. Left-wing sentiments are aired here annually on 14th July when France commemorates the Revolution. A few paving stones mark the site of the former Bastille prison.
