Where to stay while visiting Yellowstone Park

Pros: breakfast bar staff cleaniness
Cons: making the reservations need to add fresh fruit to the breakfast bar
Location: Yellowstone National Park
I would recommend this motel to anyone visiting Yellowstone National Park. Motel in West Yellowstone, which is a small town, is the gateway to the park. Motel staff very friendly and informative. Assist in directions and recommendations - even showing directions on a local map

No Breakfast in winter, Renovation issues

Pros: The rooms were ok. Clean room, comfortable bed. Location in West Yellowstone is fine.
Cons: They have very old TVs, and a fellow guest said there were only 4 channels. The rooms are dated. Needs to be clear that there's no breakfast in winter
I booked this hotel because from the description it should've had breakfast available, and it was inexpensive. They do not serve breakfast at all during the winter. They also were in the middle of renovation, which is understandable, but there seemed to be little to no effort to leave paths clear and accommodate guests. Combined with our interactions at the front desk during check-in, and we felt like bothersome intruders more than guests. Frankly, they should've just not offered rooms during renovation considering the state of things and how we were treated.

Pros: The location is great, a few minutes to Yellowstone Park West gate by driving.
Cons: The room rate is just unreasonably high. Hotel staff is neither friendly, nor helpful...
The front desk (long hair one) was very indifferent when we were checking in - said no more than 10 words to us and looked like I own her a grand dollars... No wifi signal in rooms, people were standing in the lobby every night, thus made the internet in the lobby super slow...

off season stay

After reading all the reviews I was skeptical to book this hotel. However, my husband and I planned this trip within 5 hours and didn't have many options. I was surprised at the hotel when we arrived. It was clean and very big. The only thing is that our room was near the front lobby and you could hear people in the early mornings. Beds could have been a little more comfortable but for 2 nights no problem. The price was a little high but then again the location was important to us due to lack of time planning. The breakfast was very diverse and hot. I would recommend this hotel to others and maybe it is better when it is off season. Not so crowded...

The hotel like motel. Good point - near Yellow stone. Bad point - small and old room. - no good amenities. - Thin wall (Noisy) - Close the front at 11PM. - too expensive.(The hotel like motel. But about $150)

Pros: The Hot breakfast was great, all the staff were freindly and helpful
Cons: The rooms need a major renovation, or a drastic price drop!
Location: the location is good, on the park, walking distance to food and drink, but then everything in West Yellowstone is close to all that!
This was a little dissapointing, we could not find a room, so we were not really surprised when this was available! the room was basically clean, but the walls were so thin we could listen to every word said in conversations in the room next door, and those people were trying to be quiet!, it served it's purpose, but I would not want to have been there more than just one night, the hot breakfast was exceptional, the room was a big let down, but it worked for "just passing thru".

It was a dirty room. There was no AC (It was in the room description) but there was no heater and in September night are cool. The wifi was not working in the rooms, only in the loby. The only positive points were the location and the breakfast. Won't go back will try another hotel.

overpriced for this time of year

Older motel. very clean. remodeled weirdly. Was over priced for this time of year. Breakfast was very abundant-quite good. Was not our worst hotel stay--nice compared to Wild Horse Prairie, Montanta, but was still pretty expensive for what we got. TV was small, older and channels limited. This tourist town seems to have price fixed motel charges to nothing under $100.

I spend many hours reviewing the various hotels in West Yellowstone and read all the reviews others gave them. I noticed Montanan's in general do not know how to decorate and really have no idea how to properly take care of their guests. They are , however, very nice and pleasant but in an ignorant kind of way. I tried to look at the bright side as I always do but in the back of my mind I did not have much hope when we arrived at the White Buffalo. I was right. The room looked as if a kid built it. Poorly done sheet rock and paint, no vent in the bathroom at all, poor color schemes, holes in the curtains from moths, no remote for the TV, and stiff bed and a very musty odor. The pool was small but looked nice. The breakfast buffet was actually pretty good over all. When we left the lady at the front desk said we had stayed in the last wing of the hotel that still needs to be renovated and that they would be doing it this next year.
