Good hotel if you are small and have no luggage

Posted Mar 7, 2015
Pros: Location and being an old prison, interesting.
Hotel is in a great location for the V&A Waterfront, clean and well run but rooms were very small with no room to put your suitcase, also do not expect any help getting your luggage to and from the taxi. Excellent buffet breakfast but expense, walk down to the Aquarium cafe for a third of the price with great views across the harbour.

Excellent location and value for money

Posted Mar 1, 2015
Pros: Location, value for money, excellent staff
Location: The lively Waterfront is right there. Table mountain, the sights of Cape Town and the wine route are within easy driving distance.
We had a family room for 2 couples comprising 2 separate bedrooms and shared bathroom toilet. The facilities are spartan but clean and tidy. The location is excellent - right in the heart of the bustling Cape Town Waterfront. Staff are efficient and interact well. Excellent value for money. We prefer this hotel to an expensive 5 star establishment. We would definitely stay there again.

Modern hotel extremely well located

Posted Feb 4, 2015
Pros: contemporary style location cleanliness free wifi
Cons: loungers somewhere outside for relaxation/reading
Location: Waterfront V&A area a short stroll Table mountain Stellenbosch wine region Citi sightseeing bus tour
Breakwater Lodge was only a short stroll to the amazing Waterfront area and accessible via the road (no steps) or through the adjacent college (steps). There was plenty of parking and a security guard looking after the area. Reception staff friendly and the room was fantastic. We picked a multi-access room as thought it might be spacious - and it was. Great wet room area and sofa/chaise in lounge area to watch the large flat screen TV. The beds (we had a twin room) were extremely comfortable. Tea and coffee were replenished daily and there was a useful mini fridge for beers/water. The restaurant was in the college complex and buffet style. We didn't eat there as it was a bit pricey compared to what you could get at the waterfront and it was functional and inside. Why would you when there were hundreds of restaurants and cafes a stone's throw away? Didn't use the gym or use the spa services. Would have been nice to have an outside lounging area where you could relax and read, but it was a great, functional hotel, contemporary in style but quirky being a converted prison. Couldn't fault it really.

Great location...Good value

Across the street from the hop on/off tour bus and V & A Waterfront. Clean modern room and friendly helpful staff. Takes a bit to figure out the hotel floor plan as it shares space with a business school. I would stay here again.

Ideal location, Good hotel

Posted Jan 20, 2015
Pros: We loved the location. So close to the V & A, hop and off bus and two aquarium. The staff were friendly.
Cons: Consistency in the food. We ordered the same dish twice and it tasted completely different.
Location: V&A, hop and off bus, two aquarium. Ideal location
We stayed 3 nights at the hotel. Its a strange layout as it was a prison before. We had two adjoining rooms (2 adults, two kids). the rooms were clean but very very small. Its fine it you are just going to sleep at night. The hotel staff were friendly.

Bra och prisvärt hotell i V&A Waterfront

Posted Jan 12, 2015 on Hotels.com
Mitt emot hotellet över en väg ligger Two Oceans Aquarium och Hop On Hop Off-bussarna. Allt som allt ett riktigt trevligt hotell med grymt bra läge, särskilt om man inte har tillgång till egen bil och vill röra sig ute på kvällarna.

Superb hotel

The location is great, a really easy walk to the waterfront or greenpoint, the wifi is fast and unlimited. The staff are very good and welcoming, very easy to approach , little things like booking a taxi or supplying an ironing board are no problem . The building itself is magnificent , the corners of the main block are given over to lounges overlooking the harbour , the stadium of as a spa or gym. The building between the main block and the restaurant still features the bars and stairway from its former prison use and make an impressive sight . The rooms are well equipped , spotlessly clean and very modern.

Bon hôtel

Posted Jan 7, 2015 on Hotels.com

Modern hotel minutes walk from Waterfront

Posted Jan 2, 2015 on Hotels.com
A nice and modern hotel just a few minutes walk from waterfront. The room was nice and had a bit of view of the waterfront. The staff was polite and helpful - they even solved a new rental car when one company stood us up and it seemed to be no rental cars available due to high-season. Great hotel option in the area.
