Cool hotel

Posted Jun 15, 2014
Pros: Closeness to the V &A mall,nd the waterfront
Cons: Amenities in the rooms and bathrooms
Location: Location is lovely and it's closeness to the waterfront and the V & A mall Is wonderful
The hotel is nice though not a five star hotel, but I think it's a good value for money. Just that the hotel needs improvement, facilities in the rooms are quite old.

Shame we didn't know about all the building work!

Posted Jun 2, 2014
Pros: Excellent location and the facilities are good.
Cons: One bugbear was the maids start knocking on the doors from very early, despite the "Do Not Disturb" sign.
Location: Well located on the V&A waterfront. Perfect for the bars and restaurants. Also some nice shops and market stalls close by.
Having stayed here before, I booked a couple of loft rooms for my colleague and myself. Check-in was smooth and I was shown to my room. At first glance, everything "looked" ok. However, upon using the bathroom, I discovered the door handle came off whilst i was in the toilet. No phone and no way of communicating to anyone, I eventually managed to get the door open. I then noticed that various fittings in the bathroom were coming loose from the wall, not a major issue, but hardly what you expect from a hotel of this level and price. Then the big surprise was the horrendous noise that woke me up early the next morning. The builders were in and hard at it! No opportunity to lie in, so got up and went out early. Shame, as I had really wanted some rest after a long business trip. The hotel had sent me an email the day before I arrived that informed me they would be upgrading bathrooms. However there was no mention of the noise, nor any notice that I would be given a room with bathroom issues (my colleagues room was similar). The staff just comment that the hotel is being refurbished, but there was no gesture towards inconvenience.

We were robed of our money by a member of staff

Posted May 25, 2014
Cons: The security system
Location: Very central to everthing
We left are room one nite at9.15pm and a member of staff entered are room at 10.30pm and took 1500 euros from are safe the member of staff had no reason to be in are room .the hotel would not give us back are money or any compensation ...just a ride in they merc to canal walk ,,,,how good of them.people should be also no that there are no cameras in the corridors entering the bedrooms so if anything happened to you in you're room they can not show who entered ...not good in this day and age.they only have cameras as you come out of the lifts

Pleasant hotel with great views

Posted Apr 28, 2014
Pros: The views
Cons: The rooms need refurbishment
Location: The waterfront:- loads of restaurants, bars and shopping, including the staging point for various trips (bus tours and Robben Island).
On arrival the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is located in the heart of the Waterfront and therefore a great location. The building is low-rise and aesthetically quite pleasant. My room (on the 3rd floor) was adequate and the cleanliness was okay although my views may have been coloured by the fact that the room was in need of a comprehensive refurbishment: A lot of the grouting in between tiles has crumbled; the carpet is old and needs replacing; the shower door needs to be re-hung so that it doesnt scrape along the shower floor; the front door didn't shut properly so it needed a good pull (or shove) to make sure it was secure; the bed was okay but a bit hard for my personal liking. In the communal areas (on the 3rd floor) there was unattended maintenance work like lightbulbs that had expired, cobwebs in places, marks on the walls etc. In other words, both room and hallway areas were just a bit tatty (unlike the reception area and groundfloor which was much better maintained). The customer service was a bit overbearing after arrival. My door was knocked on three times within the two hours after I had taken residence: the 1st time was someone delivering a 'welcome letter', the 2nd was a different individual delivering a complimentary 'sweet' and the 3rd I can't recall. Bear in mind that I had just gotten off a 24hr flight and was trying to rest. On the plus side, great views of Table Mountain from both my bedroom and the breakfast area.

Perfect Finish to our South African Holiday

Posted Apr 16, 2014
Pros: VIEW, STAFF, FOOD VIEW. VIEW STAFF FOOD
Cons: There can always be improvements.
Location: In Central cape town you are in the middle of everything and in walking distance of everything
The V& A Hotel was our final stay in South Africa, and it lived up to our expectations for the three days we stayed, the car was parked straight outside the hotel and the staff assisted with al our luggage to our rooms and could not have been more helpful.. The Room was in the Roof (305)with outstanding view of Table Mountain, it was hard to not just kneel on the chair and just watch, but there was more. The Breakfast was outstanding, the staff accommodating and always friendly We had two meals, one in the restaurant and one at the swimming pool, both were of a high standard with the Special in the Restaurant of Crayfish, just food to die for, simply cooked but exotic in taste, the seafood wrap with a beer at the pool was excellent and the service there from the bar staff, who were new into the job was outstanding. We hope to return again, we hope to have the same room same food same view. Only one small negative was that the staff were unable to find a vase for some flowers that we had been sent, but a glass from the room sufficed Thank you V&A for your attentive service and high quality hotel services.
