Close to the action, but not too close.

Posted Jul 19, 2014
Pros: Tidy, friendly staff and good location.
Cons: Update the tv's and wall mount them. Add a bar fridge.
Location: Close to downtown area and train. Also Third Space restaurant is nearby and great for breakfast.
Nice enough standard hotel. A few small suggestions: Like most other restaurants in Dublin, the hotel restaurant opens later on Sunday which is inconvenient for guests. It would also be nice if the hotel room had a small fridge to keep water, drinks etc cool. The tv seemed about 20 years old. Not a big deal but it takes up a lot of room in a small suite. A small flatscreen is inexpensive. I'd almost rather not have anything. On the Sunday morning we arrived, the resto was closed and we asked if there were any other places in the area that might be open. He could only think of one place, when in fact we later discovered there were lots of places. So a little more local knowledge would be helpful for first time visitors. Still, it's a pretty good hotel, and I'd recommend it.

Good hotel close to light rail to city area

Posted Jun 27, 2014
Overall, it was pretty good in a "nothing outstanding" way. There is, however, a very good small supermarket right next door which caters to all needs, even food and alcohol, and it has a pretty good coffee shop inside as well. The hotel, supermarket and coffee shop work well as a package. With the light rail system only 5, or so, minutes walk away (and the bus to/from the airport for a flat Euro 6.00 per person only another 2 minutes further on) it really is a well located hotel.

Perfect location

Posted Jun 19, 2014
Pros: The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. They answered all of our questions and gave directions and help when asked.
Cons: Everything was great. We did not run into any problems.
Location: The Jameson Distillery was right next door. We walked to the Guiness Storehouse one day and into the Temple Bar area multiple times per day.
The hotel was in the perfect location for our stay. We could walk to the main attractions within 5-10 minutes. Due to being on the skirts of the city it was quiet and a wonderful stay. The Jameson Distillery was right next door. There were 3-4 delicious restaurants on the same block. I would definitely stay here again.

Pros: Not much.
Location: LUCAS train connection nearby to downtown.
Rather obscure location. Seen better days. Overpriced.

Great Hotel in a quiet area

Posted May 30, 2014
Pros: Nice quiet location on the Maldron Square and a short walk to the Luas train for quick transportation to downtown or to the Heuston Train Station
Location: There are several pubs and restaurants within walking distance and the Hop On Off Bus stops across the street outside the Old Jameson Distillery.
We stayed here in May, 2014, on our first 2 nights and once again midway through our trip to Ireland. The staff was wonderful and very helpful with advice about the area. Our triple room was ready when we arrived in the morning from the airport, exhausted after a very long flight. They offer free wifi in the rooms and there is a convenient store next to the hotel called "Fresh" which sells everything from a full breakfast to deli sandwiches, coffee, snacks and a large variety of fresh fruit and vegetables.

Nice hotel, spacious rooms, free WiFi

Posted May 29, 2014
This hotel is nice. The rooms are pretty spacious for Europe. It's in a more residential part of Dublin. It's right across from the Jameson Distillery. There are a few restaurants in the area as well as a cinema. It's about a 20-25 minute walk to many of the other attractions and museums as well as O'Connoll street. The bus stop for the airport is right around the corner, I would not recommend taking a taxi-its pretty pricey. Free WiFi, no hair dryer. Also be advised there is not an ability to control the heating or cooling in the room. It was a little toasty. Overall good experience, I would stay at the Maldron chain again.
