Perfect spot on the river

Posted Sep 17, 2013
Pros: The cottages give you privacy while providing options for dining within walking distance. We also walked along the river which was quite nice.
Cons: Pathways across the driveways to bring luggage, a little bumpy on the gravel.
Location: Train to Denali was our destination-we did not explore Fairbanks.
We flew into Fairbanks and were picked up at the airport for a short ride to the Rivers Edge. Very cute private cottages, lots of hanging flower pots, clean rooms with outside tables to enjoy the patios. Had dinner at the Chena's Alaskan Grill which was a short walk from our place and can be reserved through the hotel site, good food-reasonable prices for a steak house kind of meal- and breakfast in the main lodge. Breakfast a little pricey for the buffet but good food, they have a continental option or full breakfast and they provide a shuttle to the train station. The only downside would be dragging the suitcases over the gravel driveway to the rooms but I am sure the staff would assist if asked. All in all a great start to our trip, should have booked two nights and explored Fairbanks more.

Private, cozy & quaint

Posted Sep 10, 2013
Cons: Wish they were open in winter. Would be nice if they had a DVD player, but we used our computer instead.
Location: Excellent location, near the airport & Univ. of Fairbanks. Close to major stores(Fred Meyer, Safeway) and good restaurants. Easy access to major hwys.
We stayed 3 nights, in one of the garden cottages. It was quiet, spacious, and very clean. Everything was maintained & in excellent repair. We loved the individual patio, complete with table & chairs & a large hanging planter of flowers, and sliding glass door for access. There was even a row of bushes in front of the patio for more privacy. We felt like we were miles away from civilization, in our own little world! It was very pleasant to stroll around the grounds, with the garden-like atmosphere and white, tidy cottages. We would definitely stay here again, and wish they were open in winter!

Private cabins

Posted Sep 6, 2013
Cons: new tv's and adding complimentary coffee in the lobby each morning
Location: Great location to UAF
Liked the privacy of the cabins. The room was updated with the exception of the tv. Comfortable and relaxing. Great location to the UAF campus.

Good Room, Poor Service,

Posted Sep 5, 2013
Pros: Nice and clean room
Cons: Quieter location would have been nice and a working heater/temperature control would be nice.
Location: Fairbanks Alaska. Chena Riverside. Boating, fishing, and all of the activities of Fairbanks are close.
Booking was for a riverside cottage, but when I got there they had overbooked and put me in the lodge instead. Nice enough room, but the thermostat did not work and it was directly above the kitchen. Which started preparing breakfast at 4 am every day. Loudly. Breakfast was not included, meaning an extra fee every day.

Good hotel for a stay in Fairbanks

Posted Sep 3, 2013
Pros: Nice location. Good rooms.
Location: Having a car in Fairbanks is a plus, but I believe the hotel has local transportation. There is a Fred Meyer nearby with LOTS of groceries and food.
We were here 3 nights in August 2013. We went to see the Aurora Borealis, but due to cloud cover, we didn't get to see it although some people reported seeing the lights on 2 of the 3 nights. The hotel is nice. The room is the right size, and the bathroom area is great. We had lots of hot water (a concern when it's that cold!), and the room was very comfortable.

Nice little cottages, not my idea of a resort.

Posted Sep 2, 2013
Nice clean little single room buildings. Nice grounds, clean, well kept. 13 tv channels, old CRT tv, can hear traffic on hwy and driving on gravel in parking lot through walls, crappy wifi. No other facilities. Left the Holiday Inn I was at for work and booked this room at a resort when my wife came up. Holiday inn had pool, hot tub, free breakfast, nice TV, and was quiet. I wish we had stayed there. If your looking for a little cottage to stay in it's a very nice place. If your looking for a resort try else where.

Nice place by the river

Posted Aug 28, 2013
Pros: Staff was very good. Breakfast was excellent.
We booked on line and when we arrived they didn't have a room for us the first night (we stayed three nights). They sent us to the Bear Lodge (an upgrade) at no additional cost and gave the four of us a free breakfast. They were very apologetic.

Cute Cottage close to the airport

Posted Aug 14, 2013
Pros: The cute and cozy cottages and being close to the river.
Cons: The night time staff. Very grumpy and unhelpful.
Location: Free airport shuttle also free shuttle to the riverboat tour.
Very cute, comfortable and relaxing cottage. Most of the staff was pretty friendly, but the night time staff was not helpful and some were very grumpy. Also, would have been nice to have access to an ironing board and iron. Overall I would stay here again.

Tis is NO resort!!!!

Posted Aug 9, 2013
Pros: It was clean
Cons: They can call themselves a resort. The breakfast should be free and the staff is rude.
Location: Not much to tell.
They call themselves a resort. There are no amenities like kayaks even though it is advertised on the website. No bikes or the kind of things you would expect a resort to have. The breakfast is not worth paying for. The staff is shockingly rude on almost all interactions and the beds were hard. It is no resort. Look for another place. It is not worth the price. The only positive thing I can say is that the rooms were clean but one on of my stays they overlooked getting my room cleaned. I came it at 4;00 and it was not done. It is off of the highway and the car noise is very loud.

Home away from home

Posted Jul 15, 2013
Pros: The river the landscaping the service just about everything.
Cons: I could of had a screen door like the rest and a mini fridge at the least
Location: Anything from lounge out at the bar eat great food at the restaurant to canoeing hiking fishing.
It was so relaxing and such a comforting setting. Wish I could of stayed longer the landscaping was beautiful. I know where ill be staying from now in when I need a weekend get away that's for sure!
