Lovely placePosted Nov 17, 2014
Pros: Friendly, clean, helpful and great breakfast.
Location: Located north of Florence central facing a large square. Were a few eateries nearby, hairdresser and a money machine.
Recognised the place as soon as we arrived, the photos are exactly right. Staff were instantly friendly and our room was comfortable and completely practical and all we needed. It was quite big enough for the 2 of us. The shower was great and the bed too. It is a little out of town but still quite walkable, think it was quieter away from the crowds of town.

Average hotel, poor breakfast.Posted Nov 5, 2014
Pros: The staff.
Cons: The breakfast, wider choice eg. Boiled eggs, fresh fruit and better quality produce, fresh bread, good quality sausages.
Location: Thirty minute walk from centre.
The hotel is a long walk from the centre of Florence, we were led to believe it was in a central location. The hotel is clean, but we found the room slightly shabby. The pillows were awful, but you can ask for more. You can also ask for a kettle. The air conditioning/heating is a pain, you can't turn it off and it comes on noisily in the middle of the night. Very thin walls, we were right next to a neighbouring bathroom which was not enjoyable. Breakfast was poor, limited selection and stale bread. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Girls vacationPosted Nov 2, 2014
The San Gallo was a hotel lovely from which to base our Italy vacation. While it was not close to the city center (and we had to walk a bit to get anywhere), it was a very nice, quiet, clean, friendly hotel. I found the rooms to be bigger than typical European hotel rooms with plenty of closet space. The breakfast (which was included in the cost of the room) had a nice variety of options. The staff was friendly and helpful - they helped us line up cabs and tours and provided directions and recommendations on numerous occasions.

The Staff is grate, nice room but "too empty".Posted Nov 2, 2014
Pros: The Staff
Cons: The rooms ar big (no so common in Europe, but "too empty" no furniture inside.
Location: Location is convenient in terms of proximity with the train station, pharmacies, bakery and restaurant. A little distant of the historic center
Good place, quiet, in front a nice plaza. A little bit far away of all the historic center. Grate Staff.

Nice hotel, quiet location.Posted Oct 29, 2014
Pros: The large comfortable room with enormous bed, and those hotel bicycles!
Cons: Nothing really.
Location: An easy walk (20 minutes or so) to the main sites.
A very comfortable hotel in a quiet location (even though adjacent to a main road and square). Wonderful breakfast spread with unlimited coffee. We had a really great time exploring the city on the hotel bikes...this made the whole experience for us!

Wonderful value for money!Posted Oct 27, 2014
Pros: Location for us out of the centre was important - cleanliness and comfort equally important.
Location: In a residential area, 20 minutes walk from the centre of Florence. Local Restaurants were small and friendly and family run - excellent value.
A great experience. The staff were welcoming, friendly and couldn't do enough for us - they enhanced our holiday experience greatly. I would recommend a room overlooking the courtyard, as the road it is situated on is busy. A very good Hotel - the standards are excellent. We would certainly stay again, and would recommend without hesitation - our thanks to all the staff.

Nice hotel but a bit off the beaten track.Posted Oct 16, 2014
Had a nice 3 day stay at this hotel, but it is a good 25 min walk from the sights, restaurants and station, and nearer 35 mins with suitcases, as the pavements are uneven, very narrow in places and people are coming towards you all the time. As many Italian restaurants start their dinner service at 8pm I was a bit apprehensive coming back to the hotel at 10pm to find over a dozen people sleeping rough just around the corner. Hotel and staff are great, nice rooms, good breakfast etc,but when you have been on your feet for hours sightseeing a closer hotel to the action may be a better choice.

Great hotel -walking distance to central FlorencePosted Oct 16, 2014
Pros: Walking distance to main attractions in Florence.
Cons: Prices for bar service could be more comparable with local establishments-would have preferred stay at hotel for cocktails but did not due to cost.
Location: Near Piazza Della Liberte and walking down Via Camillo Benso Cavour, provides opportunity to see places, not on the normal walking tours.
Stayed at hotel Oct 3-5, 2014. As soon as walked through doors, greeted by friendly staff and not disappointed with our stay. Breakfast was very good as offered numerous selections (cereal, various breads, juices, fruit, sliced meat etc). We had an early flight and hotel even provided us with a bagged breakfast (much appreciated at 5am). Would recommend and definitely come back to this hotel as within proximity to main attractions in Florence but far enough away from the hustle and bustle. We walked everywhere and discovered new places to see along our walk from hotel. Room was clean and met our needs.

Outstanding hotelPosted Oct 15, 2014
Pros: This is a perfectly lovely hotel but by far the best observation to it was the exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. They couldn't have done more.
Cons: The barman needs a lesson on customer service. We were unable to get 2 hot chocolates as the bar was being closed in 30 minutes and this was at 10:50.
Location: We dined at a fantastic restaurant called Alfredos. The food was delicious and typically Italian with very friendly staff and was reasonably priced.
My husband and I and two friends visited Florence for a few days and enjoyed our experience very much even though the weather according to the locals was extraordinarily hot and humid for the time of year. We visited the Boboli Gardens which wasn't a garden by my understanding, more of a park which requires some physical effort to ascend, a fact of which I believe should have been pointed out to the visitors before purchasing the tickets. We chose not to join lengthy queues to galleries and such instead to take in the sights eg. Statue of David and to stroll over the bridge. We also happened upon a marvellous street festival which apparently occurs quite frequently.
