Staff very helpful. The hotel is not particularly close to the centre but many buses pass close by. A weekly bus pass was worth the investment. Breakfast is varied and appetising. We may have been far from the water tank but copious amounts of water were needed to get really hot water. The room was very inviting and sheets seemed to be changed sometimes unnecessarily. The owners seemed to be reluctant to turn on air-conditioning in the middle of April even though we asked for this.

Nice hotel close to everything

Pros: Clean, nice helpfull staff, big superior room nice breakfast .
Cons: Nothing great hotel
Location: Location 15 min walk to center of everything but lots of shops and coffee shops on the way . San Marco are worth a visit.
Nice hotel couldn't fault it and quite close to everything but consider the 15 min walk back to the hotel when you've been walking all day ! Also didn't like the very busy, confusing, noisy ring road that runs in front of the hotel. Not many restaurants you will have to walk towards the center to find anything decent. Good bars right next to the hotel that did free buffet .

Pros: Rooms were quiet and comfortable.
Cons: Eggs could be hot.
Beds were comfortable and bath was large with a great shower! Staff were very accomodating and friendly! Breakfast buffet was good but eggs were always cold. Hotel is located on a main street, so easy to find your way to the city and back.

Exceptional

Pros: The homely atmosphere.
Cons: Not really.
Location: The location is a 15min walk from the city centre and a 20 minute walk to the train station, Pisa is only 1 hour by train.
Stayed at the San Gallo for five nights in March 2015 the hotel is so clean and well presented the staff are helpful and friendly, our room on the first floor had it's own terrace. Although the Hotel is located next to a busy road the room was very quite. Breakfast was excellent would highly recommend this hotel.

San Gallo Palace

Pros: Great service, lovely interior and reasonably priced wine in the bar.
Cons: Stock the mini bar with more variety. We had to pay a supplement for breakfast in our room (not much at all) but it would be an improvement to include
Location: Do not waste anytime!!! Throw your bags in your room and get a taxi to the piazza michaelangelo. Stunning enough to pop the question! I did :-)
A long weekend spent in Florence in this hotel during March. This is an excellent hotel. It is clean and the staff were great. Everything you could possibly want. The only downside to this hotel is the location. I knew when I booked it that it's a 10/15 minute walk from the centre and I decided that would be fine. However, with hindsight it would have been a better trip to have somewhere in the centre. This is a really minor point and based on my laziness, if you walk a lot anyway it will be fine. Plus you get to see a bit more of Florence which is always a good thing!.
