Great place for a family to enjoy the beach.

Posted Aug 5, 2014
Pros: The beach and grounds.
Cons: Vegetarian options at the grill and later shuttle runs to Lucaya.
Location: The resort is not too far from shopping at the Lucaya Market or the supermarket, but it is not walking distance. There is a shuttle.
We were here for only one night, but I had stayed here several years ago as well. The hotel is on a lovely beach; there is a nice pool as well, though the pool is fairly shallow so not good for a real swim. But the ocean is certainly good for a swim!! There is a frequent shuttle to take you to Port Lucaya, and also a shuttle to the supermarket. Staff is pleasant and helpful, and try to accommodate your needs. The room we had was a one bedroom suite, with a sofa bed in the living room. Very roomy for four people. The grounds are also pleasant. We didn't try the larger restaurant, but had lunch at the poolside grill. The pizza was good, but unfortunately since we are vegetarians, we didn't have too much to select from.

Nice place in a not so nice neighborhood

Loved the property, but it is a little scary when there are signs in your room warning you about the neighborhood.

Pros: The Friendly staff,scenery, beach,
Cons: Coconuts was a nice outdoor sports bar however it needs to stay open later than 10 pm especially on the weekends!
I loved this place because it wasnt congested and noisy! The staff was very friendly and made you feel very welcomed. Beautiful atmosphere and very peaceful. even tho it is 5 minutes away from Port Lucaya there is a shuttle that runs there..

On a nice beach!

Posted Apr 15, 2014
Cons: Beach chairs are getting very old and worn.
Location: Very convenient to Lucaya area and all the different restaurants and bars.
Always enjoy my stay at Island Seas. Convenient, on the beach, nice pool, restaurants ok, overall property not too large and in general staff is friendly. Nice to see some new furniture in the room as the place is looking a little tired and could use some work. The rooms are spacious and adequate. The beach is definately the big draw and the convenience of the free shuttle to and from Lucaya. Be back very soon!

Great location right on the beach.

Pros: The people are so friendly and nice. The beach attendant Adrian was super out there real early in the morning raking the sand.
Cons: Service has to get a little faster. We notice the waitress came by 3 times and didnt take the dirty dishes that were pilling up due to the buffet.
Location: We loved that there was a shuttle that went to Port Lucaya for free.
I did notice that they are redoing some rooms. It is in much need of updating the rooms. When they taik about island time they realy mean it. Sometimes the service was very very slow. I dont know if its not enough help slow cook or what. We did have one bad experience. We had paid for this beach bonefire dinner and it got canceled and no one told us. There was two other couples we walk down the beach for 40 minutes came back and went to the desk thats when they told us. We did get our money back . It kinda of ruined our evening. We didnt get to eat until 8:30 that night.

Good base for island

Pros: We love the concept of having a kitchen. A good price.. Van service to shopping was a plus
Cons: The restaurant experience was terrible. Poor service, cold food, delay in telling us our order could not be filled...on and on.
Location: Fishing, great beach and pool, shopping good for a few hours...friends showed us around and introduced us to many people who lived there.
Queen beds just are not comfortable enough for us. Smiling maid and staff was so nice. everyone out to help us. A maintenance man carried our luggage out when the bell man did not appear. Cars very expensive...beach beautiful!...Loved exploring both the east beaches and snorkeling and the west beaches and food. Great weather!

Quiet location

The hotel provides good service at a reasonable price - the restaurant offers very good value and the rooms are huge and well equipped. A car is advisable if you want to visit other attractions such as the fabulous Lucayan National Park with its wonderful Gold Rock Beach. The private hotel beach is fine but rather small and was rather windy during our visit.

The Island Seas

Posted Feb 15, 2014
Pros: A beautiful beach. Gorgeous outdoor grounds.
Cons: Cleaner interiors of the room. cheaper and drinks. A very high per person room tax in the Bahamas.
Location: Lucaya is a cute little town nearby and accessible by shuttle The ocean is calm and warm so swimming and beachwalking are firsts.
We just spent a wonderful week at the Island Seas, our third in 5 years. The hard-working outdoor staff kept the grounds beautiful and were active every day trimming, raking the beach, cleaning the crystal clear pool. I found the little shop handy for cereal, bread ,eggs, milk with prices satisfactory for a resort., Once a week there is a grocery store bus run which others described as "the running of the bulls." We spent one night in a one bedroom overlooking the ocean then the rest of the week in a time share 2 bedroom. Adequate cleaning but always fresh towels, shampoo. Very prompt service if we called for something such as a new coffeemaker and porch chairs. Don't bother with the nature walk offered as the guide knew nothing about the wildlife of the area and it was a saunter more than a walk. Excellent water aerobics class but only offered once during the week.We found the 15% gratuity on everything hard to take but if it goes to the hardworking staff, then it's okay. Expensive food and drinks but there is a free shuttle almost hourly to town where food is good.
