Nothing like it

I stay at a LaQuinta during all my travels. This one had to be the worse. The room was clean but the refrigerator didn't work. There was a lot of traffic in and out of one room in particular. Lots of undesirables were lerking around.

The room was small and dingy, dirty carpets and chairs. Pool was cloudy. Couldn't open curtains because people could walk past and see into room. Hotel was run down and the area it was located in felt very unsafe. We checked in and after seeing room; checked out.

The hotel was kind of clean but it was rundown! Some of the door handles were falling off, the television in the room couldn't be seen because it had a white bar going across the screen. Management refused to switch out the television for unknown reasons. It took the staff two days to bring a screwdriver to the room to tighten two screws to the door handle that fell off again after a few hours. The pictures of the pool that was advertised on the website, was very deceiving. The pool is a lot smaller than it appears in the photos. Cheap prices here equals no attention to details and it will leave one frustrated!

Comfortable enough for the price

Pros: A decent price per night, and a good location. Plenty of hot water and the beds were comfortable. Was nice to have a microwave and mini fridge. Cons: Outside facing rooms mean loud people driving up at all hours blaring their radios and waking to car exhaust in the room. The hotel is mostly an extended stay property, so the rooms are worn from extended use and plugs and things are loose from constant wear. The room wasn't the cleanest (toilet spefically) and the breakfast was mediocre.

All was fine until an obnoxious bunch of guests decided to drink and have a VERY loud party in the common area of the motel near the pool . Started at 10PM and went to 12:45 when I called to tell the front desk I was calling the police if they could not get then to be quiet

Not a good deal for AARP members

AARP TRAVELERS BEWARE. Upon arrival it was obvious that this hotel was in a "transitional" status as there were dozens of 5-gallon paint cans lining the hotel entrance from University Ave. The hotel is competitive with the neighboring property offering "weekly rates" for just over $200 .. but we paid $70+ for one night. The room they gave us was a less-than-appealing room located directly under a metal stairway to the upper level which resulted in loud stomping sounds of other patrons going up and down the steps well into the night. The room ceiling was caving in and plaster was falling.. the bathroom sink was clogged and when we attempted to clear it, what looked like raw sewage came into the sink.. black chunks of stuff floating in our disposal water. It had a nasty smell of decay. The carpet was so dirty it turned the bottom of my white socks black. We used all existing towels to make a pathway to the tiled bathroom but declined to use the shower after what we saw in the sink. As our arrival was rather late, after having driven 6hrs to get there, we just brought in the clean bed sheets we had in our car and covered the "sway-back" bed mattresses and slept gingerly thru the night. We used our AARP Expedia access to arrange this lodging, and it was our impression that since we had gotten a discount then we got a crappy room. We will NEVER use this property again. I would rather pay full rate at another property than deal with this again. AARP TRAVELERS BEWARE!

Staff was horrible and rude. I booked three weeks before arrival and requested a non-smoking room, on arrival I was given a smoking room, when I asked to have it switched I was told "you don't always get what you want.!" the hotel was dirty, and did not appear as it had in the photos. I cancelled my room and found a different hotel within the area. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone!
