Boutique Hotel Downtown Kamloops

Posted Aug 25, 2014
Pros: The pool complex was lovely. The rooms were clean.
Cons: A Guest Services agent should have moved traffic along the front entryway. Wedding guests should not have been allowed to occupy the pool deck.
Location: Downtown Kamloops features great walking streets and is near the Thompson river.
They say you never get a second chance to make a first impression. This is true of Hotel 540 for our visit. On pulling into the lobby, we were blocked by several cars: some taxis, some guests who had parked and blocked the entrance to the parkade. The underground parking lot was consistently full. No Guest Service agent assisted new guests. A wedding had taken place and guests wandered onto the pool deck where other paying guests were sunbathing. Awkward! Either close the pool to other guests during the wedding or close the pool deck to the wedding guests. Tuxes and bikinis do not mix.

Our room really looked nothing like the pictures. This is an old motel that has had some renovation. While the lobby and other communal spaces are fine, the room was incredibly small, the bed lumpy and overall the room felt somewhat derelict! We felt unsafe to be frank. The door had not been replaced and it was very flimsy. As well, the walls are like paper and we could hear everyone on either side of us. The pool area is quite amazing and is the highlight of the hotel. I would not recommend this hotel I am sorry to say.

Good hotel, not location.

Posted Aug 21, 2014
The staff were excellent and the refurbishing of this older hotel was well done. For us however; we did not like this location. We did not feel it was a family friendly location. Parking was an additional cost to the room.

Alright, but, nothing spectacular

Posted Aug 13, 2014
Pros: Nice pool and lounging area.
Cons: The room was just so so. The paint on the bathroom ceiling was peeling. For a newer hotel it didn't seem fresh - more dated.
Location: Not much to see or do.
I stayed one night. My meal at the restaurant was nice, but, pricey and the portions were small. You will definitely have room for dessert.

Got our room key and promptly walked into an already occupied room. Couldn't imagine how horrible it would have been had they been in a compromising position :(

Very friendly staff, everyone said hi!

Location: Downtown location, it was surprisingly quiet.
The hotel was excellent, staff was great, very positive vibe from start to finish. The breakfast was amazing, the eggs benny were some of the best I have ever had, I try them everywhere! The bed was not the most comfortable, not the worst though. Looks like it was recently reno'd so decor was nice. Pool was very cool! On the roof top, with services for food and drinks if you wanted. Parking is extra too.

Staff are always on the phone

Posted Aug 4, 2014
I arrived early. The staff were on the phone and after a wait they arrange to let me check in early which was super nice of them. Later when I came back parking was full so I waited for them to get off the phone then enquired about alternate parking. Even in the morning when I went down for breakfast the hostess was on the phone and waved me into the buffet. Their phone voices are loud and annoying, especially since they wear headsets, but generally the service is prompt and professional so it's hard to complain. The hotel is in a great location if you like to be in the middle of stuff. Ammenities are gorgeous. It's on the pricey side but I feel like I got my money's worth.

Ok hotel but it's better to go to holiday inn

Posted Aug 2, 2014
Pros: I like its kinda close to mall and market near by
Cons: Be more clear about the shower amenities
To me it's not too bad, however I would like to know which room have the shower only. I hate the tub/shower combination so I would go for the room with shower if they let me know which room it is. I bring my parents along for the trip hoping they would enjoy, however the whole time we are at the hotel 540 they kept bugging me about the holiday inn my sister book for them last time is a way better deal. Apparently it is not too far down as well.

Love this hotel!!!!

Posted Jul 29, 2014
Pros: Pool, location, staff, rooms
Cons: Noise from parties
Location: Downtown kamloops!!! There is lots of little stores, restraunts.and such walking distance, casino next door
Stayed here twice in the past 2 years. I love this hotel, the location, staff and rooms are awesome,. I had an issue recently with a party that had been there, the noise was awful the party had gotten out of control, however the staff/manager apologized up and down and gave me a complimentary night for my next stay. The rooms are renovated and modern bad very clean. The pool is nice they serve drinks/ food out there and they have lots of chairs to lay down, relax and get your tan on!!!. I have not tried the restraint but right across the street there is a restraint called "frick and fracks" I strongly recommend it, they have anything on their menus it's delicious and the staff Is awesome!!!

It was just okay

Posted Jul 28, 2014
Pros: Rustic
Cons: A/C unit
Location: walk to eating was okay
A/C unit made a loud noise and I made the front desk aware of it. Everything else was okay
