Don't Stay Here. Needs a Complete Rehab

Pros: Really nothing except location.
Cons: Everything.
Location: Right in Lake George Village. Can walk to shops, restaurants, tour boats.
This was one of the worst disappointments in my recent travels. The decor is very 1980's at best. The outdoor pool was not heated -- and was freezing in July. Large black patches worn in the pool surface finish -- really shameful. No towels left at 1:00 PM on a Friday and no one monitoring, picking up used towels, etc. for over two hours. Indoor pool heavily chlorinated and small. In a room with arcade machines, really cheesy ones. Overall had the feel of a very worn-out motel, but at four times the price. Most of the staff completely indifferent and very, very young. Do not stay here.

Location: A lot of things to do near by including a winery, little shops, places to eat and places to shop. Love Lake George Village.
I had a wedding to attend the fourth of July weekend. The room I had in the Premium East Wing was nice, but we could only check in minutes before 4:00. I was told that I would be able to check in at 3:00 and then it was 3:30 and then it was 4:00. Then the man never gave my husband the room card so he had to go back to get it. My shower was really hot and then really cold in the morning. Since I was only able to check in at 4:00 we had just enough time to drop off our things and then head to the wedding and of course I informed the front desk of our time situation and none of them seemed to care a bit. The pool was coming apart and there were no towels. There was an apple that must have been there all day and no one bothered to come clean it. My sister's room was on the other end of the hotel and it was absolutely disgusting. She had to stay 2 nights and she paid $400. She actually had to clean her bathroom it was so gross and she was in the bridal party. My sister went to the vending machine to get a soda and of course it does not come out. She had to go the front desk where the woman made her fill out a form and then woman at the front desk gave my sister an attitude about the whole situation. Then one of the housekeepers asked my mom if she was pregnant and totally embarrassed my mother. I would never stay here again, the Quality Inn across the street is much nicer.

Great Location on Lake George

I thought the hotel location was great and the hotel itself was fine. But the people visiting Lake George are not so great. My husband and I were in the elevator with our 8 and 10 year old boys when a really drunk guy at 7 pm told us he had to "go back to his wacko wife" and began to ramble on about who knows what. Then when we were dozing off, the family next door was arguing and swearing. Low class.

Our room was in the annex section of the resort. Wouldn't want to stay there again. Dark hallways, rooms need updating. If you needed or wanted to go back into the main hotel you had to walk through a maze & conference center to get there not to mention deal with wedding parties, who looked at you with annoyance. The actual location of this hotel is great. The outside grounds were well manicured, the views - beautiful and the location is close to everything. Would consider staying again only if the main hotel was available.

Great view... but beware of the "different" hotels

We stayed at this hotel on a random weekend (off season for this area) as a quick getaway from the city. We didn't book a room till we got to the hotel (figured they would have rooms open... which they did... kind of). The women at the front desk told us that a premium room was one amount a night but I saw on online that a premium room was 40 less a night. I booked it on line and then went back to the desk to check in. She then informed us that the room we booked was not in the "main building" aka the advertised part of the hotel and that our room was in a "lesser" wing of the hotel. They were not kidding about the lesser room... then she tired to charge us for a nicer room in the main building. That was 70 dollars more then what we paid YET when we first arrived at the hotel the room was 30 dollars less... I still don't get how that works. We end up taking the lesser room since we were only staying one night. The room was beyond words awful... The furniture was stained, bathroom was dirty and the fan was broken. Paint and wall paper was coming off the walls. 2 days later I checked my bank statement as I usually do, and the hotel ended up charging us twice for the room. Over all awful hotel, shady staff, don't waste your money...

Confirmed lake view rooms were not honored. Hotel staff ignored paperwork from expedia or simply lied (Manager). Cannot recommend and will never stay here again.

Pros: Staff was very nice.
Location: It is off season right now. Winter carnival is coming soon. There are outlets, a mall and restaurants in a nearby town (Queensbury).
Off season; section booked through Expedia was far away from main hotel...cold and dismal and required the use of stairs; no elevator access. Cost us $80 more than what was booked through Expedia to get a room in the main area. Wasn't a bargain. Sink in bathroom was all cracked....not impressed with the Fort William Henry.
