Location of this Hotel is why you stay !!Posted Mar 1, 2015
Cons: Updates need to be made to curtains, carpets etc.
Rooms are old but clean. Updates need to be made to curtains, carpets etc. This location is ideal and for the price being right on the beach is all that needs to be said. Wifi does not work in all rooms and when I called the front desk I was told they did all they can so "I don't know what to tell you", you can use the computer in the lobby. Hidden Gem on the BeachPosted Feb 18, 2015
Pros: Clean, Fantastic Service, Beautiful Setting, Very good Continental Breakfast, Easy walking distance to Venice Beach, Quiet Area, Great Dining nearby.
Cons: Patios on the lower floor were glassed in for safety reasons, it would be great if all lower patios had an a secure combo look door for easier access.
Location: Again, it was a beautiful setting, quiet and there were lots of great restaurants in the area. Also, easy walking distance to Venice Beach.
I was pleasantly surprised with the Foghorn Inn. When we arrived we weren't sure what to expect because it is older and a motel not a big fancy hotel but I would stay here again. Even though it is an older facility it is clean, clean clean and what I really liked was the customer service provided by the staff; it had a real Mom & Pop shop feel to it. Nothing that we needed was a big deal to the staff. I had phoned the day before to see if we could get a room on the Marina side and they were able to accomodate us for a very small fee which I thought was a bargain. Our marina side room was right on the beach with beautiful views of the beach, marina and we had a huge tile patio with a table and chairs and 2 loungers. We booked 2 tours through the front desk and all of the staff provided fantastic customer service and had excellent communication skills. We also used the front desk staff to order taxis for us and they were more than happy to help. The Continental Breakfast was second to none providing fresh fruit, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, milk, juice, coffee, tea, bagels and cereal. The choices were perfect for breakfast on the run and not the usual sugary carbs. There was a choice of eating breakfast inside the breakfast room or the adjoining patio with those fantastic views. We also loved the fact that there was a Cheesecake Factory right next door, it was the perfect spot to grab dinner or dessert after a hard day at the beach!

Wonderful setting and enviroment!Posted Feb 17, 2015
Pros: Location, location, location. Also very charming. The staff was very nice and accomodating.
Location: It was near everything, right outside the front door was a samll grocery/wine store. Cheesecake Factory was just next to that.
We had a really nice stay, the location was ideal and being right on the beach/marina was beautiful. We would certainly stay there again when we are in the area. The price can't be beat!! A very good value for the area. The only bad thing I can say is that the maid service was lacking. She left wine glasses unwashed on the nightstands which then were attracting fruit flies. She did not replenish the shampoo or toiletries without being asked. Small things, but important. We stayed in a 1st floor unit and would definatley choose a 2nd floor unit next time.

Stay away from room 209Posted Feb 16, 2015
Cons: Sound proofing.
Location: Right on the bay,
The room shares a wall with the restaurant next door. Dishes clanging, people yelling. We left after a couple of hours. We couldn't sleep or stand it.

Wonderful, simply wonderfulPosted Jan 27, 2015
Pros: everything, no negatives
Location: Everything nearby--Boat Marina, lots of restaurants along Admiralty Way, Venice Beach..
Was coming in for our brothers' big birthday bash in Marina Del Rey. The location was perfect but more than that, the hotel was more than we expected. Beautiful view of the Marina and beach. Great outside patio for breakfast. Just was absolutely lovely.

Good location, but overpricedPosted Nov 11, 2014
Pros: Location was good. About a 10 min walk from the pier.
Cons: Overall condition of the rooms was okay.
We stayed at the Foghorn Inn during our family vacation last week. The staff were very friendly and the location was good, I felt that it was way overpriced for what it is. In reality it is an old motel and should be priced accordingly. It would be okay at $100/night but we paid more than twice that which is outrageous.

Been staying there for years, wonderful staff and great view of the harbor in a very private hotel with only 23 rooms. Getting to be time for a makeover.

Convenient LocationPosted Nov 7, 2014 on Hotels.com
Having the balcony off the upper marina room was nice. The location is convenient for walking to Venice Beach and canals. We enjoyed a good walk to Santa Monica and back. Free parking is great and the staff were helpful and friendly. The inn is not luxury but it's not a chain and it worked for us.
