Pros: 5-star quality of hotel, location. Complimentary internet access, parking. Friendly staff. Gym facility. Late check out was allowed.
Cons: Wheelchair accessibility to Shangri-la Mall. Only an escalator was available, no elevator. Allow early check-in; TV check out.
Location: Great location. Accessible to shopping malls, dining places- Shangri-la mall, Megamall Near Greenhills Shopping Center, Galleria- shopping, dining
It was an enjoyable stay and wish we could have stayed longer. The pool view from our room was very nice. The staff was very friendly & helpful. Food at the Summer Palace was delicious. We liked our a la carte breakfast at the Heat but the service could be better. Took some time for the orders to arrive. But the kitchen/waiter was accomodating and improvised with a few of our orders. Over-all, we liked our stay. (Note: the front desk made a mistake in programming all the hotel keys for one room and not to the 2 separate adjoining rooms we had. But there was no need for us to go down ourselves to get the correct keys, the staff did it for us. Also, it would have been better if there was shorter waiting time for some of the provided, requested services.)

Exceeded our expectationsPosted Jan 8, 2015
Was pleasantly surprised at the level of standards in this hotel. The lobby was wonderfully festooned with festive decor, the room was clean and the poolside was relaxing. Christmas lunch at Heat was nothing short of decadent. There was lobster (albeit slightly overcooked), a whole roast lamb as oppose to just leg or shoulder, and many many more.

Coasting on past reputationPosted Jan 7, 2015
I must say that I was very disappointed with my stay at EDSA Shangri-La. It's a beautiful hotel, with great facilities, but I suspect that any reputation for hospitality coasts on past reputation. I was billeted on the 5th Floor Garden Wing for three days and two nights, during which the staff completely forgot to clean my room. No turn-down, no freshening-up, no replenishment of supplies, etc. A room service order was delivered after an hour and a half, with no one calling to advice on the delay. Worse, after my meal, despite three calls to request for the removal of the food trolley (as the room was taking on the smell of chicken masala), no one came. I was forced to collapse the trolley myself and rolled it out of the room. No one called to apologize. And while the lobby staff was busy preparing for New Year's Eve, it was clear that no one was assigned to wait on guests like myself who just wanted to have coffee while waiting for my family to join me.

Excellent Facility in Urban CenterPosted Jan 6, 2015
Pros: Everything was nice and I appreciated the in-room coffee and the extensive buffet breakfast included with the room.
Cons: Really, everything was nice. Nightly turn-down service would have been nicer, and a newspaper delivered each morning would have been a nice touch.
Location: There is lots of shopping at the Shangri-La Plaza and at the SM Megamall. There are clubs and restaurants at the nearby Greenfields area.
This is a high-end hotel in a great location near offices, shopping, and night life. The room was nicely appointed and had good space. It was set up like most hotel rooms, so in that regard it was nothing special. The bed was very comfortable, the TV was a big flat-screen TV, and there was a small sitting area with a chaise lounger. The bathroom was nothing luxurious but was completely functional and included some nice amenities. Everything was very clean, so nothing to worry about there. The staff was also very helpful and quite friendly. We had one problem with the electronic key (the battery in the door lock needed to be replaced) but that got taken care of within a few hours.

5 star hotel, NOT!Posted Nov 9, 2014
Cons: Service, service and service....we pay a premium for 5 star and should get 5 star service from people with good and accommodating attitude.
We were made to wait more than 2 hours to have a room, had to ask many times when we can go to our room and the receptionist at horizon club was indifferent, did not make any calls to accommodate us...we came from a far away province and wanted to rest before heading out to lunch...I requested for room with 2 double beds and was given 2 twins, no welcome fruit, room was supposed to be for 3 guests and had only two bathrobes and 2 slippers....breakfast time they gave me a bill which I did not sign because it was supposed to be free...I had to show proof that the deal had free breakfast...my stay was unpleasant and stressful, not Shangrila 5 star service. I have stayed many times in a Shangrila hotel and was never treated this way...and 2 days before we stayed at Shang Boracay and had the best time. Very disappointing and will never ever come back to this hotel...this place is a 3 star hotel for me...it is not run properly
