Did not care for the Fridays restaurant and bar. Would have preferred a nice lounge.

Downtown Memphis

Posted Jun 22, 2015
The lobby was very nice. The rooms were clean but very outdated and old. They need to renovate the rooms, and add new refreshing carpet and blinds, which we could not open. My husband would not stay there. I was not happy with the TGIF restaurant. The plates were dirty and I don't like that they used magnalite pots that were placed on hot plates to keep the breakfast warm. The staff was very nice, courteous and their smile was genuine. As a Hilton Honors Member and vacation Club owner I really expected a more updated refreshing look and feel to my room. For the first time I was disappointed. It just really needs updating. I won't stay there again and I will not eat at TGIF. The convenience of being in the heart of downtown Memphis within walking distance of everything was a plus.

Good location - bad condition

Posted Jun 20, 2015
Pros: The staff was friendly, helpful and courteous.
Cons: The building
Location: In downtown Memphis - close to Beale St., restaurants, parks, etc.
We selected a room for handicapped people because it was the only no-smoking room available. It was supposed to have a queen size bed, but had only a double. It had NO closet. The hotel itself looked shabby. I heard that some rooms were in better condition, but I will not be staying there again.

Nice hotel close to downtown activities.

Posted Jun 20, 2015
We wanted to be downtown so we could walk to Beale street, restaurants and the Civil Rights Museum. This hotel fit the bill and it was cheaper than other downtown hotels. Was it a great value? Nice enough but a little over priced . You also will pay $25.00 to park your car.

Sneaky smoker and noisy street!!

Posted Jun 14, 2015
Pros: the ball park is right across the street, Beale is super close, and the valets are awesome.
Cons: a little more vigilance by the staff about the smoking patrons.
Location: Beale, ball park, shopping, eating.
Yes i know Memphis a bustling city but the room we had was on the 3rd floor on the busy street side, and it was bike night on Beale. So guess what we heard all night? Then the hotel was suppose to be smoke free which one of our neighbors did not take note of so we had to walk through a wall of cigarette smell, at one point we could smell it in our room. We did report it to front desk and they addressed the issue, next time a higher room on the less busy street will be had.

Should've stayed at a Super 8!!!

Posted Jun 2, 2015
The entrance is tight and the Valet service was very slow and un-organized but the staff at Check-In was very polite and courteous though! The room was honestly mediocre at best and had ceiling texture missing from the ceiling and a massive spider crawling on the wall when we first arrived as well as no mini-fridge. The bathroom was very tiny and the shower was discolored in spots and not too appealing. The water pressure was awful as well, my girlfriend couldn't even rinse her hair thoroughly. Overall the room was FAR FAR FAR overpriced and I honesty would've rather stayed at a Super 8... Oh, but the pillows were nice and the cookie at check-in was delicious! The only positive was that I spent more time away from my room with my gal and enjoyed Beale St and some Baseball...

Not the best

Posted May 26, 2015
Traffic outside our room was terrible up until about 3am, I mean loud pipes and blaring music not just regular cars. Staff was terrific except for valet who wouldn't let us leave our car out front to check in and insisted we let them park our car. Meanwhile one of the guys parking speed of in a Dodge Charger squealing the tires. We took the stairs most the time because elevators were too slow. Excellent staff other than the valet

Location, location, location

Pros: A pretty hotel and the location can't be beat. The staff is excellent.
Cons: Housekeeping had room for improvement. The first day was fine but downhill from there. No Room service, phone goes unanswered.
Location: See the march of the ducks at the Peabody across the street. The Rock n Soul and Gibson Museums are a short walk.
Perfect location for walking tours exploring downtown. Transportation elsewhere is convenient and inexpensive. Memphis is a beautiful city and we visited for the music and food. Neither disappointed and we completed only about 75% of the tours on our bucket list. You must experience Beale Street, particularly at night...party city. We toured the music studios and Graceland, great tours. The Civil Rights Museum is just amazing and should not be missed and is walking distance from the Doubletree. We needed another couple of days in Memphis!
